Rock Evolution – The History of Rock & Roll - 1985 - (page 203)

I was going for Ram Jam, but beaten to it by BimboBob! I really like the video for some reason, so am posting it up! The song features a great riff and decent solo guitar from Bill Bartlett, despite some slightly iffy lyrics!

Good write up, agree that Ann Wilson has/had the most powerful female voice in rock (but Lizzy Hale in Halestorm presently, would match her) Foreigner, known for ballads, but imo their 'rock' songs are much better.....however, 1977 and you didn't even mention Fleetwood Mac released 'Rumours' !!!!!!!!

Santana's Moonflower was a strange album, as it was a mixture of studio and live songs interspersed throughout a double album. The standout for me is a song written by Rod Argent and originally recorded by the Zombies in 1964, the year I was born.

A whole month?!!! Hope you gave a great time wherever you are going, but does this mean you won't be nominating in the album thread tomorrow? (or for the next month).
 
As this thread is called The History of Rock & Roll it would be a travesty not to recognise that the King of Rock & Roll left us in this year, so someone has to nominate this:

Way Down - Elvis Presley
 
1977 was also the year of disco, with Saturday Night Fever at the forefront. However, if I had to pick a song from that genre (it definitely goes against the grain!), it would be a funk disco track from a band known more for songs sung by Lionel Richie, who actually played sax on this song. My sister used to play Motown and Northern Soul non-stop and this was one track I didn't mind hearing over and over!

Brick House - Commodores

Apparently, Brick House refers to a well proportioned woman, who appears 3 minutes into this video!

I'm due 1979 in a few weeks so will do that on my travels. Wainsfleet tomorrow, Whitby on Monday, Alnmouth on Friday, North Berwick on Tuesday, Black Isle on Thursday, Orkney on Sat-Sat, Lock Ness until Monday, Boat of Garten until Wednesday, North Berwick until Sat...drive home!

Totally get where you coming from with Fleetwood Mac @Southampton Blue but it was ten tracks that had a profound impact on me in 1977.
