Rock Evolution – The History of Rock & Roll - Rock & Roll (pg 47)

We’re a bit early in the timeline for Rod.
Yup. That is a truly wonderful song though. Been listening to a lot of early Rod and Early Faces recently. The Faces at the BBC box set is fantastic. A band I never saw live and one of my great musical regrets that I didn’t.

Their time is yet to come on this thread though.

My last contribution for this list came to me when I looked out the window this morning :-)

Hank Snow - I've Been Everywhere

He was a Nova Scotian so quite a practical type, it doesn't qualify from a timing perspective but if you want to know how to dispose of a completely frozen body then listen to The Ballad of Blasphemous Bill.

Thanks to everybody who took part in the discussion and/or contributed to to Country & Folk playlist.

It was interesting to research and hear where the 20th Century origins of my favourite genre, Americana, came from. I must admit that whilst I enjoyed some of it, particularly Bill Monroe, Johnny Cash, Clifton Chenier, The Everly Brothers and Lead Belly, I think that it's a genre that has improved vastly over the years (once you ditch the country schmaltz that is!)

Later today, @threespires will be along with the 4th part of our influencers series.
