Sounds like Marsh was on good form. By the way wasn't last night the second Monday of the month ?

Yeah it was but it was a special meeting due to Rodneys limited availability etc. Had a meeting last monday aswell where the guest was Mike Summerbee.

I'd have rodneys attitude over a certain marios anyday!

I'd say both are very similar in attitude, both speak their mind without caring what anyone else thinks, both are/were ridiculously talented footballers with a flair for the unexpected. I remember well that a section of City fans at the time criticised Marsh as a "lazy fancy-dan player" too!

I'm too young to have seen (or appreciated) Rodney as a player. Looking at his goal scoring record, he was banging them in at QPR (one every other game), yet his record for us was only one in every four. Can anyone shed any light on that?

We weren't playing him out of position were we? [that's a joke, before anyone reacts]

City were in transition shortly after Rodney signed, the Mercer Allison team was starting to decline and we entered into a period of uncertainty after Allison walked out in 1973, pretty much until Tony Book got the nod at the end of the 73-74 season and bought some tasty players including Hartford, big Dave Watson and Joe Royle, eventually assembling a team that was runners up by 1 point to Liverpool in 1977

Dave here - second in command at the Warrington Branch

Danny - who are you exactly? I have this big long membership list, I know everyone and nothing rings a bell here. I hope you've not been sneaking in without paying your subs. :)

Rodney was a great guest last night. A real gentleman who had a lot of time to speak to individual members before and during the interval.

We've been spoilt recently with Vicky Kloss, Mike Summerbee and Rodney Marsh so don't expect that kind of calibre of meeting every month. Andy Morrison has promised he will come down but because he trains on our traditional night then we may have to move another meeting to accommodate him.

Traditionally, the meetings are on the first Thursday of every month, yet because of European involvement and the accommodation of guests, things have had to change a bit.

Currently the next meeting is due on Thursday 7th April at 8.30pm in The Hawthorne, Orford Lane, Warrington. If we beat Kiev, that will obviously have to change.

Send me a PM with your email address if you would like to be on our mailing list.

I did use to think he was a twat until i heard his interview with Colin Murray on 5live where he ripped into the media over their portrayal of City bordering on racism. Murray quickly changed the subject.

Top draw player, for me he's easily one of the top 10 players i've seen in a City shirt, forget some of the daft,100%,give it all runners that have been labelled 'legends' round here, this guy was the real deal, just a pity he never seemed to take it all that serious
