Rodri Injury Updates | City say ligament injury (pg117)

Rodri knew it was bad when it happened. You could see that clearly by his reaction. The physio was testing his knee through manipulation when he was being treated. They will have had a good idea on the extent of the injury through that. I think we should set our expectations accordingly and any results that is better than he is out for the rest of the season is a big plus.

Really feel sad for Rodders. Just as he’s been rightly lauded as the best midfielder in the world. Hope any internal damage to the knee is minimal and he comes back soon and 100%. We need a get well soon thread going so he knows we’re all behind him!

Which ligament though?
Medial ligament 6 or 7 weeks, ACL rest of the season.

I find it interesting that we haven't said which ligament.

Hopefully it's the Medial.
What's strange is that there shouldn't be any confusion at this stage about which ligament he's injured.

My guess is it's an ACL injury, but there's a difference of opinion on the severity and necessary treatment/recovery time.

Obviously they want him back as soon as possible (returning in March rather than June could be the difference between winning the league and CL or not), but not at the expense of his long-term fitness.

Is the vagueness to protect players medical information?

Or to temper expectations if it isn't a full ACL tear?

Seems like a it's a bit of a tactical release of information on the injury. To keep press speculation guessing. I hope it's a minor injury for the lad... But it's the hope that does you in as a fan :/ !?
