Roll call for 9 minute protest

Bloody hell, I hope there's a slither more solidarity on Wednesday than on the forums or we might as well hand over our credit card details and tell them to take whatever they want.
Solidarity has to be built unfortunately.

Its partly an English problem, even the Romans commented on how invidualistic we are.

I’m all in favour of an organised protest against some of the club’s actions regarding ticketing recently, and will probably participate. Does feel a little bit rushed and ill-thought out to me though if I’m being honest. The impact will be minimal imo just because many people turn up late to midweek games anyway due to work/traffic, and it’s a game that will be relatively poorly attended. It’s not a high profile game and whilst I get the significance of 9 minutes, it doesn’t feel like a big enough statement. Also don’t feel like it’s been communicated particularly well either. Hope I’m wrong, but guess we’ll find out soon enough.

I suspect you are spot on, it could end up being a real damp squib.

I think it's been communicated better in mainstream media than it has on here, actually! Which is surprising as it felt to me like a very online thing, but my Dad knows about it from listening to Talksport in the van! But yeah, some of this needs fliers hanging out before kick off and proper holding the line. We'll see, I suppose. Back in my student days I once did a lecture hall occupation for a cause I still don't know what it was for so I'll turn out for any old shit.

The club must know about it but can't be arsed heading it off, seemingly nonplussed by it.

Stay away, it's the only way the club will take notice. A game attendance boycott needs organising before the end of the season. And it needs enough commitment for it to get our discontent across to those who make decisions within the club.

I'm interested on what KAM will have to say in his annual two part end of season chat with Chris Bailey. At the end of last season's part two talk he said he'd address the matter of SC and match pricing. We'll soon hear what he has to say but I'll say this (and I'll probably get pelters).

Khaldoon Al Mubarak is nothing but a silver tongue spin doctor telling us what we want to hear to appease us, but when i look into his shifty looking eyes i don't see sincerity, i see calculated greed bereft of any guilt or shame of pricing longstanding blues out.

I'll leave it there for now.

The protest will probably increase the sales of beer, so can see Soraino not being too upset!

What confuses me is staying on concourse for nine minutes but spending money at the bars. Playing straight into the clubs hands.

Can we not leave 10 mins early instead
Ha ha, not a chance, none of our fans would ever do that.

Nor would season ticket holders who pay a fortune think, can't be arsed going today because we aren't as good as we were!

What's the significance of 9 minutes anyway?

Viagogo are becoming City’s 9th official ticketing partner.

I’m a bit torn. I’m fully behind the protest, but due to life circumstances, I only have 5 games left and want to cherish them all.

It’s nowt bad, just don’t have the time to do 10 hour round trips to games.

It’s shite what’s happening and has made my decision easier not to renew.

The protest should of been for everyone to walk out 15 minutes before full time. Can't believe the organiser's missed that open goal. :_)

I'm not happy with the prices, but then again haven't been for about 20 years when it became a luxury to attend footy.

I'm not sure this type of action is for me when you see where we are to what we were.
It's not like Swales Out when we were on the verge of going bust and crap.

The only way things will change is for all fans to petition and protest to the league.

Our prices are not much different to other PL clubs, top half especially, that is the problem.

It just won't happen for 1 club to charge fans a lot less than everyone else!

All fans should unite and protest but too much rivalry in football. Most fans of other Clubs will just take the piss with empty seat shite.

For sure, the initial reaction will be the empty seat jibe, but it’s not just a City problem.

It’s all clubs milking the fans for as much as they can. It’s capitalism+.

However, fans aren’t the same as customers and they are banking on our loyalty always outweighing the cost. It seems most are close to the tipping point where this might not be the case.

As long as the team are top tier, there’ll always be enough fans to pay more for tickets to go and see Haaland in the flesh once.

Fast forward 15 years, when all clubs haven’t enticed the kids to come and get addicted to watching their teams, it’s a ticking time bomb for clubs.

There’ll be no one left for them to entice back.

I still have no clue as to the significance of 9.
Edit. I do now.

Yes, I was wondering about attendance and what it would be like. I'm in the States and it is a first for me that I'm getting emails that tickets are available for this match as well as Palace. Never seen that before. I'm not sure what the impact will be, particularly if its not going to be a full house. However, I think it is important to offer and show some form of protest. I'm not sure what the form of protest should be. If I were going I suppose I would just follow what the fans in 116-119 are doing.

Protests should always look for maximum publicity. TV games are perfect for this but Leicester midweek not on TV isn't ideal but it's better than nothing.

Hopefully a spark that catches fire because the whole ticket pricing thing is out of order, as is the number of tickets that find themselves to opposition or neutral supporters, no doubt at marked up prices.

Still wind's me up, that the club reduced the capacity so they can have bigger advertising hoardings around the pitch. Sum's the club's attitude up to the fans that one did and it's only got worse since then.

I couldn't care less about the empty seat jibes myself, it's by and large just keyboard warriors having their say without any knowledge of being a match going fan.

I'm not conflicted at all in supporting this action.

You are sitting in the seat you have occupied since the ground opened, two seasoncard holders that have sat next to you all that time no longer attend, and those seats are now on open sale. That's the situation I now find myself in, and I have had Chelsea and Wolves fans sitting next to me this season. Fortunately, they were respectful, and I had no issues with them.

What would your reactioin be if, at one game, the two people sitting next to you were a couple of meatheads intent on causing trouble?

For me, that is a genuine concern, and 'who am I going to be sitting next to' is now a worry every time I travel to the ground.

When we played Liverpool one of their supporters was sitting in a seat a couple of rows behind me and it got ugly very quickly when he started rubbing it in. It was City fans that removed him from his seat because the stewards couldn't be bothered doing the job they are paid to do.

I get the money aspect of your post and I agree with it entirely, but it's the lack of care from the club regarding our safety that is the real issue for me.

You haven't been to a game for 20 years? Mate, you have no idea what the issues are as a matchgoing fan, and it's a bit rich for you to say this protest 'isn't for me' when you won't be anywhere near the ground.
