Roll call for 9 minute protest

Simplest alternative which would support the players but hit those in charge of finances would be to boycott all merchandise on Wednesday. No programmes, no food or drink, avoid the club shop.
That would have a huge impact as they’d lose revenue and also have goods that are no longer of any use to them as the next home game is 10 days after.
That could work. I would have thought some of things are ran by external companies though - food and drink.

Its the groups organising it that have clouded the issue with the Vianoshow , and the 9 minutes for a 9th ticket partner stuff, even the mail back page made it about Viagogo, barely mentioning any other issues. That’t whats confused it all.
As for all the other issues like most people probably some I agree with some I don’t.
I don't think it's confusing to those that have been paying attention and talking about this all season and before.

who fucking cares what the daily heil print either, we know the issues, they has been discussed here at games, in pubs and all over city social media for a long while, yeah the viagono tagline is a bit bobbins, but this is hardly an issue that is new, the ticketing partners and diatribution of tickets in numbers to clubb staff have been on the dans agenda for maybe 2 years now.

I”m not talking about those fans that belong to 1894, or those that post on Bluemoon. Most fans that go to games probably do neither. The times I go to games and hear fans talking and think how have you not heard this or that makes me realise most take little notice between games and don’t follow fans forums or social media.
They will get their information from newspapers or the BBC and mainstream sports media. That’s where the message is very confused and more probably think it’s about Viagogo selling hospitality and couldn’t care less about that.

The thing that is beginning to worry me at present is that the press have taken it up and I have no trust in the media whatever.
Have they taken it up because they have observed how fractionised the protest is becoming, how it is dividing the fan base? Leaving the media waiting with bated breath for it to be a damp squib?

I do not want it to be a damp squib obviously (whatever @Damocles thinks of me) but I am wary these days of the British press. Sorry :-)
I agree, we don't want a damp squib but it's likely that just a few thousand will join in leaving 45000 or so still in the stadium. Turning out backs would get around 50000 assuming corporate don't join in. So when fans come in on the 9th minute stay silent and everybody turn their backs for a minute. This will have a big impact.

This. All day long. It can also be explained to other fans sat nearby who might not know about the concourse thing.

Has nobody mentioned dropping Platinum and buying gold season cards. Being able to buy points instead of earning them still passes me of to this day. No protest then, people could only see the points, not the significance of that move.
I'm still not sure about the 9 minute protest, it's not great for the team, they are the ones I support, not the board.

True.
Living away from Manchester but being known for being a blue in several circles it is clear how most people get their beliefs about football and City in particular.
The pundits , BBC mat ch of the Dsy, Daly Fail etc run with very basic anti City stories that quickly reach a tipping point
I know before I go to the Golf , or Pub, Tennis etc exactly the storyline which will greet me.
But it is not only fans of other clubs which take on these simplistic views.
A couple of weeks ago at Forest ,several times. I heard ,"Haaland is a flat track bully," the same story doing the media round..
As you say the vast majority of fans of any club have little interest outside of actual matches.
Before games most people don't know who is Injured, or who plays for the opposition, who the ref is etc.
They go for a good moan, pie and pint and to see who can leave earliest-:)

Says I who is basking in the Spanish Sun for a week and missing all the fun of an 8 minute protest that 40,000 will not of heard anything about.

Waste of time this I'm afraid, be lucky if you get more than 20 or 30 doing it.
Tolpuddle martyrs were probably told the same , before having the balls to try and do something for their fellow men,and raise their standards.
As has been said on this thread earlier,up to you.

If you’re happy letting the club piss all over our loyal support, take to your seats and ignore the boycott.

If you enjoy licking boots, the protest isn’t for you.

If you find any reason to back a club that doesn’t care about you in the slightest, suit yourself!

If you care about your fellow fans being priced out and our legacy fanbase being erroded, join us on the concourse. It’s 9 minutes to make a statement.

Is City Matters a waste of time?
Is the letter from the fan groups a waste of time?
Have the protest banners been a waste of time?
Are 3000+ seasts still unsold for the Leicester game a waste of time?
Etc.
You maybe right as Khaldoon and the directors clearly aren't interested with what the fans concerns are, or what the fans have to say.
But at least Khaldoon and the directors now know.
And they will know even more on Wednesday.
Trust me, they will be waiting for the fans reaction with interest.
So no, the protest isn't a waste of time.

The spokesmen from City Matters and 1894 that I’ve heard on Talksport recently spoke well but to me both were going off on too many tangents.

I’ve been moaning about 3rd party agents for months - but having a protest at a game when there are thousands of empty seats and many not sold at £30 seems a bit strange.

and let’s not kid ourselves that any coverage in the media over protests is some kind of fan solidarity - it’s the media laughing at us or shit stirring.

And why are some blaming Soriano ? Grow some balls and go for Khaldoon, or Sheikh Mansour or Abu Dhabi. The idea that this is on Soriano is ridiculous.

Every club is doing the same - the minute Soriano goes he will be replaced by another exec that will do exactly the same !

Yes I don’t get the obsession with Soriano. He’s doing the job he was hired to do. Just like Danny Wilson and Roel de Vries are. Khaldoon calls the big shots along with his Directors.

Exactly, if you can’t be arsed protesting don’t come on here and moan about agency tickets, “tourists”, ticket pricing, poor atmosphere as each of the issues are related.

I live in Manchester,we had Peterloo.
Don't divide and conquer.

I Am born and bred a Manc.
Peterloo a terrible stain on our Country, though politically it did lead to change.

Have you read, "The Manchester Man"
By Mrs George Linnaeus Banks, a fine portrayal of the history of my home Town.

Ultimately yes. But Khaldoon gives Soriano and the board a free hand. Khaldoon isn’t running the club on a daily basis in Manchester, Soriano and the directors are. Khalddon is too busy looking after his own and Abu Dhabi’s affairs. City are a small part of that.(ask Donald Trump) Khaldoon will be updated about City on a regular basis by Soriano and the board via personal meetings and video calls. Khaldoon will be involved in the important issues like 115.

You’re right. Soriano was hired to do that. Be successful on the pitch and to win trophies. To drive and to increase match day revenue. He has done that. He wasn’t hired to alienate the club’s local and legacy support. And to dismantle it. He could have done the first two without doing the 3rd. He and the board between them decided to do the 3rd.

If I saw Soriano tomorrow, amongst many questions, I’d ask him why there are still over 3000 unsold seats for the Leicester game. And if he is bothered about that with another 8000 seats to sell halfway through next season?
