Going out on loan. Pep didnt even play Rodri on his own at first without Gundo next to him in a double. No way hes putting a kid in there yet.We could save 40m+ by giving this lad a chance to rotate with Rodri when the latter requires a rest.
like people say, if they go out on loan there is a very low percentage they come back and play for the first team, Zinchenko is the only one but he really is an anomaly as his loan move was an absolute disaster as well.Going out on loan. He's a cut above PL2 he wont learn much more, to keep him about for the hope you get 2/3 favourable. cup draws isn't gonna do it for his development I don't think. I could be wrong, pep just might yo-yo him between 1st team training and PL2 another year yet. I think he's got enough about his game to be starting in the teams linked at least.like people say, if they go out on loan there is a very low percentage they come back and play for the first team, Zinchenko is the only one but he really is an anomaly as his loan move was an absolute disaster as well.
Though on the other point about not playing Rodri without somebody alongside him, then play somebody alongside the kid, IMO it is time we used the league cup to blood more of these kids, minimum 6 kids and 5 pros and see how far they go but they have to play if they make the later rounds, I wouldn't like to see them dropped if by any miracle they reached the final, sure Arsenal did this once and then lost to Brum lol
Zinchenkos loan was an utter disaster he played 12 league games and 4 cup games and then was relegated to their reserve team, if memory serves they accused him of attitude problems, not that we have seen any of that kind of thing. He's a cut above PL2 he wont learn much more, to keep him about for the hope you get 2/3 favourable. cup draws isn't gonna do it for his development I don't think. Zinchenko played over 20 games inc. in the champions league his loan was one of the better ones. Same with Steffen.
The clubs now producing products that should be good enough to come back, if they get the loan and environment right. Getting them ready to integrate in the position needed at the right time is a bit of perfect storm.
Gonna be interesting, the club clearly have a lot of promise in him and McAtee but getting into that CM for the first team is probably the hardest positions right now, especially a 6.
We do seem to struggle with loans a bit, I wonder if it is because it takes players (even senior members) so long to adapt and adjust to Pep's style of play?Zinchenkos loan was an utter disaster he played 12 league games and 4 cup games and then was relegated to their reserve team, if memory serves they accused him of attitude problems, not that we have seen any of that kind of thing.
Stefan a bit different, older player bought and loaned out immediately and ended that season injured, still he is a reasonable back up but will never make a true #1 at City imo.
You are right that we need to loan them to the right clubs, something we have been a huge failure at for a long long time.
I do feel certain players may benefit from training fill time with the first team than going on loan to a team that are not going to play our style.
A lot of young stars to come let us hope somebody starts earning their money as the loan manager supreme.
I have been championing his cause most of the season, and there have been opportunities to give him minutes/experience (relatively risk free) that have not been taken. We could save 40m+ by giving this lad a chance to rotate with Rodri when the latter requires a rest.
I am hopeful that this season will be the one where this changes. We definitely saw a desire to play Palmer before his injury and there are a group of outstanding young players now reaching their late teens, where playing them earlier could have been a little premature. Palmer is a definite, this season, for regular minutes, and I am really hopeful that the same will be true for McAtee and Edozie. Lavia is a huge talent, IMO, and should start to be included, in some cup games, even though he is a little younger at only just 18. I think you and I share the same hope.I have been championing his cause most of the season, and there have been opportunities to give him minutes/experience (relatively risk free) that have not been taken.
The refusal to use youth,at opportune moments,is very frustrating.

Lavia is only just 18. I would be surprised if, this coming season, McAtee, Lavia and Palmer are not part of the first team squad and are given opportunities. They are all in their teens though, so it is right that this is a gradual introduction. If you were to write this outside this forum of EDS players, you know what comments you will face
1- He is not ready, apparently our youth players are never ready here.
Well yeah you to play them at some point, they won't be teadyt by merely training with first team
2-Which top 6 team uses youth players? We shouldn't use them when we are chasing title
This is another stupid argument wbich comes up
3- another argument made We need to keep our £40/50/60m earning £100/150/200k players happy so can't use youth
4-Our players need to play , the first team players so that they have rhythm. Not giving those players minutes would hurt team
(As if playing them week in week out won't hurt team and when it matters like FA Cup SF, we have to pick and choose and people here say FA Cup semi isn't important.
If Phillips is back up for rordri, I don't see how Lavia can ever make it
Lavia i think will go out on loan. Integrating into the middle of the park is gonna be the toughest spot. Palmer/Foden/Edozie can all play out wide to learn first where there is less risk if they lose the ball.Lavia is only just 18. I would be surprised if, this coming season, McAtee, Lavia and Palmer are not part of the first team squad and are given opportunities. I agree, and/or as a potential Gundogan replacement, who appears to have one more year.Lavia i think will go out on loan. Integrating into the middle of the park is gonna be the toughest spot. Palmer/Foden/Edozie can all play out wide to learn first where there is less risk if they lose the ball.
McAtee i have no idea, we've switched into a 4231 alot at the end of the season, bringing him in slowly at that #10 for Kev would seem a no brainer of a move.
Yeah, i can see him in there long term, but learning/gametime in the 10 with extra cover makes sense to me.I agree, and/or as a potential Gundogan replacement, who appears to have one more year.
Unfortunately I can't see that. Realistically there is too much at stake for them to take a chance on a player who won't be there for them long term. I feel that his best bet is to stay here, continue to train with the first team and pick up cup ties where possible. He is obviously highly rated by Pep as shown by the number of appearances on the bench. If Phillips signs however, well.......who knows.I agree, and/or as a potential Gundogan replacement, who appears to have one more year.
Regarding Lavia, he is younger but clearly a talent. I am not sure about a loan but if I was to bet on it, I would say that he may go to Vinnie if he arrives back in England.
Depends who Burnley lose, they are broke as fuck.Unfortunately I can't see that. Realistically there is too much at stake for them to take a chance on a player who won't be there for them long term. Can see Delap there, Burnley striker written all over him. Brute.True
