It'll never happen then. KDB, Sterling, Kompany, even Silva...these players would never break through at City. Messi would have, but he's Messi. Do you really think we'd be giving a young, raw Silva the slow integration into first team football he needed to become what he was? No.

Was Silva given the chance to break through slowly in a top two team? We have to accept that's what we are and we're there for a reason.

I'd love to see kids coming through as they have in the past, but the likes of a Barton, Micah, Onouha, even SWP, wouldn't be good enough to make the grade anymore, let alone as kids.

We may find the next world star, but most players will go off on loan to prove themselves and some might be good enough to make the first team, but very few. Just think about the rest of the premier league - how many players outside the top 4 would get into our first team? And that's established players, not kids.

What is this clear clear evidence that you talk of? Not supposition though please

More than anything you have. You haven't come up with one word of anything of an argument apart from to say that the unknown person who made this decision was correct because he must have been.

You have nothing but supposition to go on.

Then stop trying to convince like you know better.
I don't think there is an argument to say that Lopes is better than a first team player in our squad but he might be , the club have decided that they don't want to take the risk to find out.

No one has a crystal ball to say how a player will turn out, we can afford not to have to take risks and buy the best around a bit naff though isn't it...

He has to be better than at least one squad player in his position to get the chance. The manager, coaching staff etc have decided he is not.

No

No risk involved.

The worst that happens is he leaves as he can't get in the team. Well he's left anyway.

Yes? Valencia were a top 2 or 3 team when he broke in, I'm pretty sure. Same for when Juan Mata broke through for them and Jordi Alba and various others. Barca have a pretty long list of players who weren't world beaters who they somehow managed to give a chance to and still compete in all competitions. It's a bullshit excuse that you can't risk young players in top teams, it's just not true.

Yeah that 20 minute cameo last week at Everton was something to behold , he tore potential £40m
John stones a new one.

Oh wait a minute , he hasn't featured in any games this season despite being the standout in pre season ..

Which is why he will be in the first team squad for the season and will get game time. It seems you are too quick to use this particular stick to beat the club with.

So if Messi was 18 but not yet better than Navas, you would fuck him off rather than bring him through?

I don't understand what you are saying. Lopes did not want to sign a contract it seems to me. I would presume if we had Messi in our academy at 18 we may have recognised
he was a little bit special and likely to become a better player than Navas.
