When we have a "kid" that is likely to become a superstar then surely the club will recognise it. Who is refusing to sign contracts ?

If you mean Lopes then the club have deemed him not good enough for the first team squad and he didnt want to sign without guarantees. Getting decent money for him seems to me the best for both club and player.

But we do have kids that have the ability to become superstars.

I disagree with their assumptions about why he hasn't signed a new contract. I said back in March he wouldn't be playing for City again.
I also disagree with the false assumption that we somehow conned Denayer into agreeing a contract. Just as I also disagree with the shit stirrer who has been laying false claims across two threads about our youngsters have had enough.
Well I would love to imagine it's not true but I'm convinced it absolutely is.

And unfortunately we will lose a load of talent to other clubs if we do it like that. I'm really shocked & disappointed by this as I bought into the stuff they said 100%.

I hope it's just down to Pellegrini being scared but if it's not, there is no point in those of us who wafch the kids teams, bothering.

I guess the majority of fans are indifferent to whether or not we have an active policy to bring youth players into the first team

I'm not one of those, I take almost as much enjoyment reading threads in the academy forum and reading about the potential that is bubbling under the first team as I do the main forum.

It's fantastic to see a kids career develop from start to finish, and to see that with your own club must be twice as good.

The sad fact is as a city fan I have never experienced that..

But the issue is mate is that you are imagining, and you have convinced yourself it's all rotten to the core.
I've been adamant for a while Lopes wouldn't make it, and I got jumped on back then.
I'm surprised at how much Denayer has come on this season, and I would have been happier to see him stay and DeMichelis go, but the fact that that did happen doesn't make the youth policy either embarrassing or disgusting or rotten to the core as some hysterical posters are making out.

I'm bowing out now as the arguments are going round in circles and are hardly based on either knowledge or facts but assumptions and wishes.

But we did con him into a new contract. We said one thing, then did another. How is that not lying to him?

I am not suggesting they should be thrown in at the deep end at all! I'm suggesting easing them in as they ARE good enough! But we dont even do that. Garcia, Ambrose, Barker, Bryan, Gunn, Celina, Byrne, Ntcham, Angelino, Maffeo, Boadu etc etc...ANY of them should have made their debut in a cup game last season cos they simply deserved for the results, performances and football they played in the academy games last season. They all did better than Pozo, yet he was thrown in as a desperate last resort! But we didn't, and we never do. THAT'S what im suggesting. Fair integration...not fucking nowt ever.

What you are suggesting is that you are better qualified than the management and coaching staff as to whether one of the youngsters is suitable for progression into the 1st team. It will happen, but to romanticise about half a team of players that have progressed through the academy is a little unrealistic imo.

70% of the squad are not 'superstars'! Why do the kids have to be ?

People keep saying this & also that they have to be better than the current players to be worth using. Both ideas are nonsense. Nor are people demanding for them to start all the time. Just be slowly introduced to do a job in the squad, that's all.

Well if they made that promise they would be stupid. LOL don't sign a top La Liga player when the chance arises.

But they did say it. So thats all that matters regardless of what you think. It happened...City said they trust him, and then went behind his back and proved they didn't really...yet. It's shite.

I want us to develop kids through our academy as much as the next guy. However, I'll put my trust in the guys at the top to see it happen and know it's important to our owners, who haven't let us down yet.

At the end of the day, the top kids will make it. Let's just enjoy the fantastic team we have on the pitch and let the Head of the academy worry about player development.

The U16s are clearly the ones to watch/wait for.
