Rotation, Rotation, Rotation

I especially liked how Mancini rotated the fullbacks last season and going by his recent comments on how he'd like to keep Kolarov, it looks like he'll continue doing same next season as well.

If he rotates the full backs to the extent of last season we will again get knocked out of the cup. His biggest error of last season.

Fullbacks are not the reason why City got knocked out of both cups last season.

In the FA Cup, Kompany's sending off when the game had barely started is what I think cost us and even then the game ended 2-3 with City in the ascendancy.

In the Carling Cup, Savic giving away a penalty at home cost us. In the away game, it was Kolarov who set up Dzeko's goal. A penalty was harshly awarded against Richards by that fat referee, again, not the fullbacks' fault.

I don't think it's a coincidence that Clichy looked so good especially towards the end of the season while Zabaleta was able to keep Richards out of the team on merit.

WTF was all that about (although in fairness it probably may not have made any difference after Foy's party piece!)

Panti played very well though, saving Rooneys pen, not many keepers can say that, shame he got the rebound though

With an ageing team on the decline they are bound to suffer lots of injuries to key players, and those they brought in to replace them were poor. They are still over reliant on Giggs,Scholes,Vidic and Ferdinand and when you take those out their team is severely weakened

FERDINAND WHETHER IN OR OUT WEAKENS THIER TEAM :) DONKEY

I meant more so in Europe, proper piss take.

Our injury record was poor when Mancini came in, and he mentioned it. It isn't anymore....

too many outsiders are far to quick to write him off, saying he's not the man for the job, little do they know, roberto is shrewd, has a great football head, can play the press game and shifts pressure from the players, and has proved his method by our fantastic injury record, not the mention 2trophies in the last 2 seasons,
and getting the better of 'sir bacon face' at every opportunity afforded this season

-- Sat Jun 02, 2012 3:45 pm --

I remember you starting a thread sometime back saying you weren't bothered about the cups as long as the focus was on the title or something along those lines. Also, we were never going to realistically win the Champions League at the first go or are you saying the rotation of fullbacks was the reason for City not winning the Europa League?

Anyway, Kolarov was quite good in Europe last season with a few goals and assists if I remember correctly.

With our attacking full-back system, whenever we are playing two games a week I think rotation is essential, dn. Those lads cover a lot of grass in any game.
What we were short of was quality cover. Kolarov is not good enough and Micah is very prone to injuries, so we need some more players of the quality of Clichy - a superb buy imo.

Agreed , one or two others too but how can you argue with the guy.

To be fair Pantilimon didn't make a mistake really, and did save a penalty, just didn't get the rebound away..

Any other 3rd round opposition than the scum, then I would agree, but we were the holders of the trophy playing our despised neighbours!

I would have gone with Joe and maybe saved Pants for the Europa League!

Anyhow, it's all 'istree now - the future's bright, the future's BLUE!

Or a quality two footed player that can play left and right back to cover the injuries.
