Rotherham (FA Cup) Post Match Thread

Is he the goal scorer we thought we had a few months after he signed though? I certainly hope so but i'm not convinced yet.
At the same age Lewandowski was playing for Lech Poznań and Allardyce was looking to sign him for Blackburn, Cavani was playing for Palermo, Suarez was playing for Ajax, Firmino was playing in midfield for Hoffenheim, Lukaku had been binned off by Chelsea and was on loan at West Brom, Ibrahimovic was at Ajax... none scoring that many more or less than Gabriel Jesus is for City.

Apart from Gonzalo Higuain (Real Madrid, starter at 20) and Wayne Rooney (United started at 19) no other striker (proper #9) at 21 year’s old was at a proper top club, Benzema and Agüero were two others who were banging the goals in but at Lyon and Atléti. and most of the ones who are top players now had not even really been heard of yet.

Gabriel Jesus might stay at the quality he is now, never really making it at the top level like Balotelli never did... but he might also improve between the age of 22-24 and end up being one of the best in the world.

At his age in his position, it’s very hard to tell.

That was the game when John Bond fell trying to jump down off the perimeter wall in an effort to rush to console his son, Kevin, the Norwich captain. Funny to see Joe Royle playing up front for Norwich at the tail-end of his career. Also the game with the humorous commentary "....and with the last kick of the game, Bobby MacDonald scored with a header...". Would have won the bloody cup if it wasn't for Steve Mackenzie missing in extra time in the first game which would have meant no replays of that Ricky Villa goal - one of the most overrated goals in the history of the Cup. Good memories overall.

I was chatting to someone coming out of the ground and they described the performance as ‘flat’.

Haha you couldn’t make it up, I was astonished. Flat ffs.

No pleasing some people.

Did anyone hear that dick at halftime on the pitch talking the piss out of Fodens finish for his goal ? Couldn't believe my ears .. prick.

Just got in great performance today. Rotherham players and fans were poor, great to see Foden getting his goal onwards to the next round now.

A bit of a sloppy passing performance by us at times but we dealt with a team we should be dealing with easily with some nice goals.

Thought Zinchenko had a really good first half and Gundo a good game overall.

Not sure what to make of Foden today, not sure he played that well but that’ll happen with disjointed minutes. Youngsters are always inconsistent.

Wasn’t impressed with their fans considering there were around 5000 of them.

Is it really? Not for me it isnt. Not good enough.

You know when a rag youngster scores a goal & the media proclaim him to be the next whoever & suck him off till they go to Sunderland?
They done that for Phil yet?
