Ruben Dias - Benfica confirm sale to City

Sometimes the fit isn't about just talent. Dias might not be the most talented defender in the market but he's one of the best leaders, communicators and organizers available. He's a hard defender with enough on ball ability who understands the importance of derbies. He's been like that both for Benfica and Portugal.

We've needed those intangible attributes ever since Vinny left. Kounde, for example, is probably more talented but Dias might be a better all around fit.
 
He’s in for a big shock going from a farmers league to the PL.

I’ll support him when he’s a blue but having watched him a few times I’m genuinely shocked we’ve bought him when it’s clear he was 4th choice at best. Seems we have simply gone for the cheapest option.

Just feels so underwhelming going from KK/Kounde/Gimenez to this guy. What started out as a really exciting window has ended with me thoroughly deflated.

Agreed I think he has the attributes we have been missing since Vinnie left. This really strengthens us.

Them missing out on Champions League turned out good in that sense we atleast get someone in. If they had made it, he would not have been sold under his clause which is €100m. Fair to say we played pretty risky game this summer.
 
With Laporte, Dias, Rodri...we may become dangerous from set pieces. Add Delap and things start to look really different.
