I know we're all a little disappointed by this potential signing but, if he does come, there are a lot of positives. He's a leader and gives us some much needed physicality in defense. If we are going for a Kompany replacement, Dias is probably the closest you'll find to Vinnie's skillset. There's no point being too disappointed, he's the man the club think is right so let's get behind.

I think it would be a great signing and the one I wanted all along . We should have done this deal last year when we were linked . Young kid aswell . Great news if we can get this done

We barely concede ANY headed goals. It’s pace we need, not height. Pace against counters, pace to cope with a high line and space in behind. If he doesn’t have pace (I don’t know if he does or doesn’t) then it makes little sense.

He has decent turn of pace, not as agile as your Kounde obviously, but he's not a Maguire in that terms. Quicker than Stones and Laporte I would say, but not quicker than Aké.

Judging how we went to bid for Koulibaly, Gimenez, Kounde and now Dias. You can keep your head in the sand. Doesn’t change the fact that we failed to sing our main target and ended up with a choice close to bottom of our list.

Scouting is based on realistic, attainable targets who fit the mould. We've never gone the easy route of taking world class players for majority of our signings, bar 2 I can recall in recent memory, and that being KDB and Walker, polished players who've become even better. I would say our scouting has been a success at large, the one signing that was bad for us in recent memory was Nolito, and that was on him, being a moron.

All the money spent and we still have question marks over Mendy, Mahrez, Gundogan, Otamendi (looks like he's going), Cancello, etc. Not great scouting.

Defenders from Portugal haven't tended to do well.

Feel like we're going for this guy because he's cheaper than the rest.

no question marks over otamendi IMO. we bought him, he won lots of trophies, he played well. then his legs went and he was finished at the top level.

Twitter reports that broke the Dias story? Those twitter reports? We know Koulibaly and Kounde were targets because both clubs have spoken about our offers. So that’s third choice straight away. Carlos was definitely on the radar. The only one I’m unsure about was the links to Giminez this window as they really didn’t last long. But Dias is clearly 4th choice at best, maybe 5th. That’s quite clear to be honest.
