I remember maybe Khaldoon saying (i maybe wrong) that part of our transfer strategy ,is that we have multiple target players identified early on for the same position , a Plan A , B , C etc.

that's what we maybe seeing here and not a scattergun / random approach

I feel like 4 would be a big indicator of how we rate him but then again it’s just a squad number. I know it’s not the most important thing but it’s just one of those little things that excites me

Doubt they have £108m to spend from what Prestwich Blue has indicated , especially if they can't move their dross on.

Utd aren't in for him because they're still following our Koulibaly & Kounde deals & have been thrown right off course with this one.

Rags have been using the strategy of following our transfer targets and hoping we miss out so they can try, done it with almost every signing last 2 yeaes bar Van De Beek recently.

Not seen this guy play properly. Looking on twitter a lot of other fans seem to rate him. Quick look on YouTube he seems to be a Kompany replacement in that he's quite physical.

Is the issue just that he's a bit slow? And that we thought we were getting Koulibaly or kounde instead? Are there any specific games where he had a nightmare which is why people are saying he's no good?

we were in for him last season, Benfica put a 90m clause on him, so that says to me he was wanted as first choice, however due to his price we walked away.
we went for KK , again his price was silly for a 29 year old, we went for kounde whose price was excessive considering his inexperience, maybe Benfica have said we will lower his price add ota and its a deal(maybe they needed the money) weve said yep we will do it.

hes been scouted and pep wanted him last season
he isnt our 4th choice
he is young and experience
