Sky Sports Action right now - Melbourne v Canberra in Week 1 of the NRL playoffs.

It’s an absolutely rip-roaring game so far!

Three British lads playing for Canberra (I say British because the Great Britain Lions are back this Autumn).

Got to congratulate my team Salford on a magnificent season. We've not finished that highfor absolute donkeys years. Let's hope we beat the pie eating twats and get to the Swamp. It'll be full of complete barm pots.

If you beat the Pies in Week 1 you play Saints away in Week 2.

Oh well it was good whilst it lasted! Still been a top season.
But then if you win in Week 1 and lose in Week 2 you play the last team left of the rest in Week 3 at home.

It goes...

Table:
1. Saints
2. Wigan
3. Salford
4. Wire
5. Cas

Week 1:
Saints (1st), week off for finishing top
Game 1- Wigan (2nd) v Salford (3rd)
Game 2- Wire (4th) v Cas (5th)

Week 2:
Game 3- Saints v Winner of Game 1
Game 4- Loser of Game 1 v Winner of Game 2

Week 3:
Winner of Game 3, week off and go to Grand Final
Game 5- Loser of Game 3 v Winner of Game 4

Week 4:
Grand Final- Winner of Game 3 v Winner of Game 5

Week 3:
Winner of Game 3, week off and go to Grand Final
Game 5- Loser of Game 3 v Winner of Game 4

Week 4:
Grand Final- Winner of Game 3 v Winner of Game 5

Makes the Nations League seem comprehensible.

It means the team finishing fifth can be ‘champions’. Let’s hope the PL don’t spot this, as it might put the rags right back in the mix.....

It’s the best and fairest format for a play offs system. It makes the league season mean more as the higher up you finish the more of an advantage you get.

Finish 1st and you get a week off and home advantage; finish 1st 2nd or 3rd and if you lose in Week 1 or Week 2 and you get another chance so that a fluke result doesn’t mean you go straight out; win Game 3 and you get a week off and go straight to the GF.

The lower down you finish, you have to play away from home against teams that finished above you in the league and finish 4th or 5th and every game is an eliminator/sudden death.

It has been an eight team playoffs in the past and still is in the NRL. Nobody from eighth has won it though.

But finish top, you only have to win two games - your home game (Game 3) and win the GF and you’re Champions. Win from 5th by winning three away games against teams who all finished above you in the league and then the GF against most likely the team who finished 1st and I’d say fair fucks to you.

Leeds have won from 5th twice.
