In fairness, rumours about tours are generally more accurate than rumours about transfers...

Can someone copy-paste please? On a mobile and in a hurry

Manchester City could be the next high-profile European team to visit these shores.

The defending League champions last came to South Africa in 2009 for the Vodacom Challenge, and KickOff.com understands that Roberto Mancini’s troops have been sounded out to return ahead of the 2013/14 season, with Durban likely to be one of the host cities.

Although KickOff.com has heard that a deal to play City in Durban has already been concluded, AmaZulu – who faced Manchester United at Moses Mabhida last year as part of the DHL World Tour – say “nothing has been confirmed yet” as far as they know.

Kaizer Chiefs beat a star-studded City team in the Final four years ago, with the late Jeffery Ntuka having scored the winner at Loftus Versfeld.

USA, Asia, and South Africa...

I guess the USA one doesn't count in the same way as it happens BEFORE the players go on holiday and is a quick money grabbing week-long tour.

Soriano's revenue boosting plans are in play.

I hope this is true, if it is, sounds like it will only be a 4 or 5 day tour, with two games. Heard Durban is one venue, and the other will either be Joburg, Bloemfontein or Cape Town.

Ah for the days of Maccy and Stockport. I've seen us down here at Exeter, Plymouth and another time at Newquay and Torpoint - standing next to the goalpost of Nicky Weaver and Tommy Wright (2nd half) in the pouring rain at the former. Dodging tackles when they came over the lines.

We knew how to do pre-season in them days :-)

Ste - thanks for the copy-paste

If this is true, it's probably an invitation to enter the Vodacom Challenge that we played in about 4 years ago. The way that competition works is that one European team is invited to play against two SA teams who are pretty much always Kaiser Chiefs and Orlando Pirates. The Euro team first plays one game each against those two at their home stadia, but the games are basically inconsequential money-spinners as even if you lose both you still qualify for the "Final". Then the two SA teams play each other for the right to contest the final against the invitee. Then the actual final is played and the winner gets a trophy.

If this rumour is accurate, I think that's what this will be.

Why would anyone look back fondly on anything involving Stockport?

by the sounds of it, i dont think it will be the Vodacom Challenge, that normally takes place over more than a week, with the visiting team playing 3 games. also think that takes place when City are in Asia. sounds like this could be just two promotional games. hoping to hear some confirmation soon.

The following are not saying much more, but looks like it may go ahead:

And the seasons we played wholly exotic friendlies like Hearts!
