Running thread

Did a park run this morning, my first proper run in over a decade. Having previously played football three times a week and trained in the gym four times a week, I turned up expecting it to feel relatively straightforward. It wasn't. A humbling reminder that fitness is specific, and that no matter your background, running demands its own kind of conditioning.

It all comes down to consistency and practice.
To start running after a decade takes some willpower.
That's brilliant mate.
I'm in me late 50s and feel guilty if I don't get a short run in once a week.
I still play outdoor 6 a side Footy,so a run pre match helps, two runs is a bonus, and the very very rare times I manage to run 3 times....that's when know I'll be bossing the footy game, lol
Laziness is so hard to shrug off.
Anyway, all the best for your future fitness ventures!

Anybody using Adizero Evo SLs for daily running? Any reviews or other recommendations?
What is it that you want to know, any specifics?

Ive had mine about 9 months and think theyre great, but would struggle to put my finger on what it is that makes them great!

They're fairly light and snappy, and cushioned enough to give you support but without feeling bulky

They're the first pair I've had that felt quick, but they've been a great all round trainer.

I've worn them for anything from 5ks to half marathons

I have a Tour of Tameside place that I can transfer if anyone fancies doing it. June 18-21. I can transfer up until Friday, otherwise will just defer to next year.

I have a stress fracture, so not going to be able to do it.

Actually been looking at getting a pair as all i've heard is good things and want some new ones. Keen to hear some feedback from anyone who has a pair also.
I've got 130km in mine and I love them. Got them for just over £70 so an absolute bargain, although they're orange and pink so perhaps not the most popular colour.

I bought them as a daily shoe but I can't run slow in them so probably only wear them once a week. Actually got the SL2s as well so they're my go to trainer most days. The Evo SLs are light, responsive and really comfy. Seen a few reviews complaining about tongue slippage but, apart from a bit of faffing when putting them on (just to straighten the tongue), I've not had any issues. They've been great at anything up to half marathon distance but I've not gone beyond that in them.

Overall, an incredible shoe and one of my favourites ever. I've also been surprised at how durable they seem to be because I've got little to no wear on the sole up to now. Just be prepared to run fast because there's no stopping them when you get going!

I’ve got both the Original Evo SL and the Woven EVO SL. I was concerned about the durability due to the lack of tread / rubber. However the originals have almost 500K (300 Miles) in them and are still holding up very well. I’ve never had any issues with tongue slip, however the Woven has a gusseted tongue which fixed this issue.

I’d happily do any type of run in them or race any distance in them. Just avoid running on ice and don’t buy them in white as they’re impossible to keep clean.

Very hot crystal palace parkrun, official time of 33.47. Delighted with that as was looking at 35-36 mins while out there at a time. Not sure how the dinosaurs did it

Went to Urmston parkrun today this morning. It started 4 weeks ago.

99% on grass and a short stretch on pathway. Was different - time was 33mins.

Running at Knutsford tomorrow in 10k and weather is forecast to be warm. It felt warm enough today for 5k.

Good luck mate

Bouncing back from achilles tendinopathy picked up in September slowly but surely, I just shut down on all running and health when I get injured, I really need to do better in future. Put on 10kg but shifted 5kg since.

Anyway with this type of injury the trick is load for anyone suffering with it, not rest, you have to get in the gym and work it, which has paid off in recent weeks, back up to 35-40km weeks.

Not ran a sub 20 5k in a while, so shooting for that on Saturday and then hopefully work down to my 18:28 pb from last year, probably at the mid-Cheshire 5k in August.
