Running thread

Well done to all who did the Great Manchester Run yester day (of whatever distance). I did the 10k in just under 51 mins which I was pleased about considering I tore my Achilles tendon in August last year so this was the first big test of it since then.
Great event and support whilst running round. Lots of people shouting out encouragement.

Watched the BBC coverage and the elite race when I got home. First km was 2mins 33 (men) and 3mins (ladies). Unbelievable speed. Finished quicker than my usual parkrun times lol.

That is ace, that. I relate to the Achilles cos mine is pretty knackered - it's a big relief when you can properly run on it again though.

Managed the half in 1:37 on Sunday but the bottom of my foot is still totally fucked. It was my first one and I’m really into it but can’t be dealing with shitty injuries like this !
Brilliant time! Especially for a first half. You're probably in with a god shout of going under 1:30. Have you considered seeing a physio or podiatrist for the foot issue? Those people work wonders.

Cheers mate! Yeah I'm gonna go for that next. Funnily enough my old man is a podiatrist, he just said freeze a water bottle and put it under my foot and roll it.

Went to Widnes parkrun yesterday and managed identical time to last week - 30-13.

My daughter’s friend signed up to parkrun for the first time and came along. Been training for about 5 weeks. He was superb - finished virtually on 20mins.

How old? Great time

Was on for my parkrun PB (23:47) at Peel on Saturday. Then my calf pinged on 4K and I had to hobble the last K in 5:30 resulting in 24:56 time. Gutted as it’ll be about three weeks now until my calf is back to normal. Been doing calf strengthening with weights and always wear calf compression socks. Guess my calves are just old and worn out - like the rest of me. :-(
