Given the number of resignations for dubious activities in their 1st year Labour's vetting is almost as bad as Reform's
 
Can I just add bank balance here and say the vast majority of MPs until caught out are hard working talented individuals who strive for a better society. A couple of bad apples to me just confirms we should really pay them more so we get the best of the best.

Ray Ray Reeves, Starmer, Truss, Johnson and the like don't come round often.

It's daft.

The bizarre thing is that it appears to have been on the market for nine months, empty for four/five, price reduced in February, and only just listed for rental. Clearly she was planning to sell, but if it's not selling and she wants to re-rent it, then she was only a few weeks short of what the new law will be.

Utterly daft not to just wait.

Minister a should not really have business interests. Even with property they should hand it over to a blind trust. Saves a lot of probs.

I'd agree with that up to a point - although you'd assume there would still be an exception if she wanted to sell the house.

She may well have been selling it for that very reason - that she didn't want to continue as a landlord, given her role.

The whole point of a blind trust is that all decisions including sell or retain are taken without the beneficial owners knowledge or wishes. If, when a minister resigns, he/she finds that the trustees have done something she dislikes, that is just part of the trade off.

Another MP with no morals whatsoever.

Not satisfied with what she’s got - which is far more than most - the greedy **** wants more and more.

She should resign as an MP……………or should she? Cos her replacement could be twice as bad. It really is beginning to look like they are all at it.
 
Best of it is she is probably also claiming expenses for a second fucking home as well and all that goes with it!

Anyway, she has gone and the clock ticks for the next politician caught out with their nose in the trough…..
 
Seriously, what a clown. Speaks out about landlords exploiting renters and then does exactly that! The hypocrisy is the worst thing about this but also the sheer stupidity of doing it in the first place. Some of them just can't help themselves.
 
As a labour voter I'm incredibly frustrated by this. Not only is she an outright hypocrite, she's either thick or arrogant enough to think it wouldn't have come out into the public realm.

All this is going to do is push more people to over to the fascist party!!

Who will be every bit as bad if not worse because it’s the default position for all MP’s who have landed their arses into a system that rewards them beyond the wildest dreams of 99% of those who vote them in thinking they will bring about meaningful change.

All the same? Fucking too right they are and history keeps on telling us they are!

Agreed. Either be business or be in politics. Not both. Glad she is gone. Right decision.
 
Mp’s say a lot while doing the exact opposite 90% of them are in it for themselves and make as much money as they can! Majority of them are disingenuous two faced! Some mean well but once in Power are not up to it!

Turns out this was from two years ago before Labour got into power and before the new legislation was even drafted.


Wonder why the Russian Oligarch, Evgeny Lebedev,Saudi multi multi millionaire Sultan Muhammad Abuljadayel and the entrepreneur owner of the Evening Standard Justin Byham Shaw , would allow old news to be raked up to force the resignation of a Labour Minister?
