Russia detects possible signal from "sun like star"

This along with the Tabitha star/Dyson Sphere thing - it's a great time to be alive! I just wish we would get a DEFINITIVE answer for once - enough with the "maybe, may, possible," etc.

It's probably just the sound of a planet being annihilated by a Death Star. We are essentially rubber necking. Should be ashamed.

Signal set off 95 years ago... they could be on their way... cue twilight zone music...

I'm sure it's legit and its just some nice friendly aliens that want to be mates. Hopefully some clever scientist will find a way to signal back so they know where the human snacks are.

I want to be excited, and i am to an extent, BUT

It's 94 years away travelling at the speed of light, maybe just maybe my great great grandchildren hook up with the next species, and that's cool too BUT

To run into another species at exactly the same or higher level of development, and so close, is highly unlikely (although I'm still holding out for not impossible), this radio signal could be fuck all, BUT

Most life, if/when we find it will be microbial. That's a chance for us to observe over millenia how we came to be. BUT

What's to say these guys, as the article says IF it's artificial, haven't been watching our planet??

It is hugely exciting, BUT for selfish reasons mind you I'm disappointed I won't be around to see what happens, and I'm not altogether hopeful that as a species we'll see another few centuries out before blowing each other up or making the planet inhospitable.

We're fucked if they've picked up Talksport going the other way.
