Russian invasion of Ukraine

How have you come to conclude your belief stated in first sentence?
I’m going to guess he’s cross referencing the posters names who’ve spent 2 years camped in the covid thread worrying and the ones now camped in this thread worrying and drawn a conclusion from that.
Might be accurate might not, I’ve not desire to check tbh.

You’ve got to live your life. Worrying about stuff you have no control over isn’t healthy. The last 2 years have already been a clusterfuck and just as the cause of that seems to be subsiding along comes something else to keep everyone panicking.
What’s going on is awful for the Ukrainian people but spending your days constantly in fear over what may or may not happen is no way to live.
Life isn’t a rehearsal. Count yourself lucky that you’ve been born into a country that isn’t embroiled in a war on your doorstep, that for the most part is safe and the services you require are to a decent standard. Then live a little.
Obviously if the red cunts beat us it’s all been for nothing!! :-)
Amen to that. Carpe Diem.

Our politics and society has its problems and western democracy and capitalism are far from perfect, but we are so lucky to live in the west where we are comparatively free and prosperous.

Funny how the wannabe communist types like to bang on about how awful “western imperialism” yet I don’t see any of them packing their bags and moving to Moscow.

Maybe just maybe the US, UK, EU and other western allies are actually the “good guys” after all.

Thank fuck I live in the UK. As imperfect as it is.

Or maybe it's more nuanced than this and there are no 'good guys' or 'bad guys'. Western society has a lot of massive massive problems and we do try and play the 'we are the good guys' card way too often.

Capatalism has reaked havok on the planet and caused significant issues within our own societies. There are better alternatives than late stage capatalism and communism...

Whilst I agree with this for the most part, we are moving into a period of massive ecocomic uncertainty and I think a lot of people are within their rights to be concerned about the impacts this is all going to have on them and their children if they have any.

As humans, we are quite good at burying our heads in the sand and pretending there are not issues afoot. I'm not saying people should be crumbling at the seems, but ignoring the fact that the next few decades are going to be extremely challenging -is also not really effective.

Well it seems like we’re at the point now where you have to pick a side. I know what side I’m on.

I suppose we’re all wired differently but I struggle to wrap my head around people who are living in the U.K. and letting this impact their daily lives in such a negative way that they can’t enjoy things that are meant to be enjoyed.

Exactly we are nearly 2000 miles, a sea and 5 other nations away from where misiles are dropping, we can all sympathise, donate aid and be horrified by what is happenimg, but unless directly affected most will carry on with life and the world beyond is just going on about it's business while looking on.

Pick a side in this conflict? I stand with the Ukranian people.

But I will not stand for people letting issues we have in our own governments and systems slide because 'Russia bad'.
