Russian invasion of Ukraine

Wasn't it the Free Trade Hall?
More likely the Liverpool Central Hall (since renamed Grand Central Hall that should tell you all you need go know about Scoucers!), as Toxteth was home to Adolph Hitler supposidly visiting his half brother Alois for 6 months in 1912-13 (no definitive proof except Alois's wife's diaries BTW).

Don't bother mate he stipulated quite firmly that he won't be returning to the thread after posting his thoughts.

Because he is a Russian Sympathising shithouse. How about his and other Russian families get rid of the absolute thundercunt in charge.

Fuck his father-in-law as well. He can build himself a little wooden dildo to go and fuck himself with.

The whole thing is an atrocity, do not get me wrong, and I am in no way defending any of Russia's actions. I also agree that any scum, soldier or not, that goes around raping, murdering, or torturing people deserves whatever comes to them

IMO a thoughtful and informative post like that from @MichaelBBack deserves a thoughtful response, especially if you disagree with it.

Demonising an entire population is what enabled Putin's war in the first place.

We didn't spend WW2 trying to empathise with Germans who didn't actively support the Nazis. It was after the war and the defeat of the Nazis when bridges were built and relations normalised. We should have the same approach with Russia. Nothing can be normalised until they are defeated and the Russian people have got rid of Putin.

My grandmother grew up in Hitler's Germany and my mum, aunt and uncle all still got it in school in the 60s and 70s. Fritz this and Fritz that. Will it be the same for kids of Russian descent in the 20/30 years to come?

Not in the UK because our cities are not being shelled and our civilians massacred. I suspect Russians in Ukraine may suffer some discrimination in the future though. However what's important right now is for Ukraine to win. The life and death fight for survival and independence takes precedence over worrying about future discrimination. All these issues can be dealt with when the war is over.

In 1980 I made a journey by ferry to Holland.
On the ferry across I met a guy from Frankfurt, he encouraged me to visit his city sometime.
We had quite a long conversation and briefly touched upon WW2. He said to me that, " Not all Germans are bad people."
I guess that in the same way not all Russians are bad people either.
The only way to get rid of the dictator Putin is by force as the ordinary Russians cannot do it via the ballot box these days.
The Ukrainian people are doing all they can to purge their country of the invader and all right thinking people must support them. As a nation we must support Ukraine as much as possible without escalating things.
Putin, far from building the empire he desires, is presiding over a chaotic mess of appalling death and destruction which should not be happening in the 22nd century.
He may well be the man who inadvertantly brings about the fragmentation of Russia and the demise of their form of communism.

Oh, and for anyone who cares to go, Frankfurt is well worth visiting.

This isn't going to go on that long is it??

piss-taking aside you're bang on about one thing and that is this should not be happening in this age.
