Russian invasion of Ukraine

I have to say that although I’m delighted the Ukrainians are liberating swathes of their land and freeing thousands, there’s nothing pleasant about war.

Each one of those bodies is a son, husband, father, brother etc. There are countless Russian lives that will be torn apart by Putin. It’s easy to sit and watch videos of dead soldiers without really comprehending the world changing ramifications faced by their loved ones.

All for what?

That being said, I hope the rapists and murderers amongst the Russian military suffer more than a quick death.

Hitler shot himself soon after his birthday.

Just a... random fact *whistles*
Rumour has it, he was furious with the Gestapo for not sending him a birthday cake and he wanted out

It's not really a video you want to watch. A seemingly unarmed Russian hiding in an outhouse, Ukrainian solider walking through a garden somehow realises he's there when the door is closed and starts firing through the door. The Russian tries to run and gets shot dozens of times by 3 or 4 Ukrainians, still trying to crawl away when he's riddled with bullets.

It's not a good video.

Not my proudest wank.

The Russians have the opportunity to surrender.

Instead they get pissed up, rape , pillage and blow the whole place to bits

fuck em

I’m sure much might be made of this by pro-Russian mouthpieces, and we can all acknowledge a few Ukrainian soldiers going nuts isn’t anywhere like on the scale of what the Russians have done. Whilst we can all agree on that, Ukraine does need to be careful to keep the morale high ground - I appreciate this is easy to say from the comfort of my home. I hope they will publicly find those responsible and bring them to justice.

War isn't pretty...My old man and his brother were in WW2 ...one was dive bombed by German Stukas every day at 5 am for 3 months.... My dad saw some awful stuff ....British forces did some bad stuff trust me as they were not very happy with Ze Germans.

My uncle had to scrape his mate off his artillery wagon. No mobile phones in them days.

In the heat of battle if you've had family raped, killed and houses demolished .....I think I'd also GO MAD

War is shit and Putin should not be there or his poor unfortunate vodka drinking raping robbing soldiers

They don’t all have the opportunity to surrender unfortunately, that’s a very childish attempt to make complicated issues black and white.

It’s a lot harder than you are trying to portray it to abandon your unit on your own and just walk up to 5, 10 miles to the Ukrainians. Firstly they’re very heavily bombarded with propaganda that the Ukrainians won’t accept surrender because of the awful things Russians have done. Then, If you get caught leaving you will be shot, if you don’t surrender properly you will be shot, if someone doesn’t realise you’re surrendering, you’ll be shot. In fact there’s a nonzero chance you’ll get shot even if you do everything right.

It’s a nice and easy throwaway platitude to say everyone can surrender but it’s childish and not how wars actually work.

Plenty of them are surrendering because of how many are there against their will, but try not to reduce everything to childish levels so you can celebrate watching a seemingly unarmed man get shot 100 times while running away and bleed to death in someone’s garden.
Lets also not forget that if you surrender what are the chances your family back home gets a friendly visit from the powers that be. Fuck em.

It's just a tragedy of war. They didn't know he was unarmed, he didn't try to surrender, he was just hiding, probably a young kid or inexperienced conscript just trying to survive and make it home.

I think the Ukrainian is pretty lucky it was a Russian soldier behind the door he shot into completely blind, but I don't know where they were or the likelihood of civilians who hadn't fled being there.
This is bollocks, sorry.

They knew he was a Russian soldier because they had been clearing the area and saw him dart into the outhouse, with his rifle.

They didn't take any chances on him shooting them, so they took him out, he was shot through the door to start with, and fell out, rather than ran out, hence why he didn't have his weapon with him.
