GDM just has a pathological dislike of Americanisms creeping into our spelling.

Not wanting to detail the thread. But how is Jail an americanism? Seeing as it English since about 600 years before America was founded?

In 46 years I have never seen it spelt that way.

I'm assuming that they had just enough missiles to make a show of force on Monday and Tuesday, partly in response to his humiliation, partly to give his new General a fillip, and partly to sate the bloodthirst amongst his propagandists.

They are even more pissed now that Russia reduced the bombardment to much lower levels.

Not having a go mate, just pointing out the American influence. I remember having a spelling test in primary school 40 odd years ago and they asked us to spell it, and 99% spelt it jail.
