Russian invasion of Ukraine

I'm not suggesting they're asking for boots on the ground or that we should offer it, I'm saying we (the West not just UK) aren't going anywhere near as hard on Russia as we could and should. There's countries opposing banning Russia from swift because of self interest, Germany have so far done the most notable thing by halting nord 2 and that's commendable but there's suggestions they're against banning the Russians from swift because they feel they've done their part and don't want their own economy to suffer anymore, Italy are against it and want all the luxury goods they export to the Russian elite to be unsanctioned, Belgium want diamonds untouched, most of the Western world appear to be happy to just condemn Russia and see that as them doing their bit.

Whilst it may hurt the world short term, going as hard as possible now to end this as quickly as possible will save both money and lives further down the line both in Ukraine, Russia and likely the rest of the world.
It's very commendable for germany to suspend the certification of Nord Stream2 but full measures regardless of the difficulty to individual states should taken immediatly if we are to enforce sanctions at the highest level.

A half hearted approach from members remain non conducive to hitting Russia where it really hurts and there's more than a whiff of lethargy surrounding the issue with Italy's reluctance to exclude luxury goods from it's armoury.

Also how have we come to a situation wherebye nato members can find themself to be so heavily exposed to Russian energy. Also I remain a little perplexed as to why we are not personally sanctioning Putins assets with immediate effect.

Speaking of sanctions we shall no longer be buying into Chinese products and although it's a small gesture .. small ripples make big waves.

And last but not least It would have been more prudent for NATO to have supplied Ukraine with the full means to defend itself in advance of the Russian attack that every man and his dog knew was coming. Munitions have indeed been provided but not nearly enough to make their final stand. God speed Ukraine this evening.

Also how have we come to a situation wherebye nato members find themself heavily reliant on Russian energy. Also I remain a little perplexed as to why we are not personally sanctioning Putins assets with immediate effect.

For context Germany have bought over $200,000,000 of gas from Russia since the start of the invasion yesterday morning. Their economy relies on it.

Huge credit to Poland as well who have announced effectively an open border to those fleeing. No Passports, ID, covid certificates needed and they have said even pets will be allowed in.

Magnificent gesture from a wonderful country and people.
Well, lets say they have had very similar experiences in the not too distant past and can probably empathise quite strongly with the Ukrainians.

One of the symptoms of Parkinson’s is an invasion of Ukraine

Good luck with that, the majority of purchases made today in the UK originate from China.
