The only question is when will both sides decide it's it their interests to talk rather than fight.

At the moment, the Ukranians believe they can take back territory by fighting, and the Russians believe they will outlast Western support to Ukraine.

At least one, and probably both of those need to change to drive the inevitable negotiation.

Obviously, you, me and everyone else on here wants the Ukranians to be right, and the negotiation to be over how to guarantee the pre-2014 borders for a peaceful future.
