Russian invasion of Ukraine

Sounds plausible enough, I'm sure it will have been investigated, at one point 6000 were following it on Flightradar24, and I'm sure that wasn't all civilians ;-)
im hoping the military dont rely on flightradar to watch planes, flightradar should be used by,spotter, transfer watchers and ramp agents who fancy a smoke before their plane lands :)

Ukraine's maritime authorities make it now official:

According to Ukrainian Coastal Warning 118, six Russian sea ports along the Russian Black Sea coast are declared areas of "war risk" and by doing so declaring those areas to combat areas . The warning comes effectively immediately and is valid until further notice.

This applies to the following cities:
- Taman
- Anapa
- Novorossiysk
- Gelendzhik
- Tuapse
- Sochi

What does this mean?

Answer: Military engagements must be expected in these areas and ships with potential military cargo can be targeted according rules of engagement and the law of war. Aside from official ships of the Russian Navy, the Russian coast guard, police units and Russian border troops, this also applies to commercial ships heading to Russian sea ports, including oil tankers, cargo/container ships, utility ships etc. and even passenger ships when transporting military cargo and/or military personnel. Civilian ships near military ships and military installations such as port areas can be affected by collateral damage and need to keep distance to those military targets.

This comes after Russia declared the same for Ukrainian sea ports and the end of the so-called grain deal.

I mean it’s important to have a realistic discussion is it not?

As said many times, Russia’s only tactic at this point is to hold out until the next US Elections and hope Trump wins. During the 9+ month campaign trail, it will be politically very difficult for Biden to send more large packages, but so long as the ‘alliance’ of other countries keeps up the funding and Biden wins again, then we will all get what we want which is a full Ukrainian victory, but clearly it won’t happen in 2023.

Equally the golden ticket in this thread is F16s, which it may well be, yet Ukraine has only been able to put forward 8 pilots as suitable for training…..a further 20 will likely spend the winter in the Uk learning English before starting training next year, but still…..28 pilots isn’t going to touch the sides, especially with Russia still having air capabilities.

The other common suggestion in this thread is that Russia is out of weapons and men and a complete collapse is only a matter of days now. Yet Lithuanian media, quoting their intelligence services, say 80+ of Putins closest oligarchs have turned their business empires to equipping the Russian army, and almost all are not under any western sanctions……alongside this Ukraine have been shouting about the drones and missiles they’ve been taking apart that are stuffed full of Western tech with 2022/23 serial numbers….

As at the start, we all desperately hope Ukraine are able to finish the job next year and Putin gets Mussolini’d in Red Square, but it shouldn’t be an issue to post the realistic situation alongside what we want to happen.

Without reading the above.
My point was that most posters have a balanced view. Therefore i have no problem with people discussing good and bad news.
However, we keep getting some visitors who seem to only point out bad news. That leads me to suspect either a dark agenda or Russian bots.
Neither is welcome right now...

Quite clever with your pro Russian posts being couched in a soft manner.
Bollox of course - few if any of the F16s are coming from the US - they just need export licences from the US.
Oh and ACTMs and Abrams tanks are being delivered by the US soon too and lots of older western tanks too - Leopard 1s, Chieftens etc all equivalent to T72s.
Then there is the devastation of Russisn EW equipment, Artilary, logistics, command posts and rear troop concentrations in the south that is happening day after day.
Degrading Russian defences.
