Russian invasion of Ukraine

How do you reckon that?

While Russia is losing lots of men and hardware they are making small gains. I’m certainly seeing a bit of a momentum shift towards Russia in the stuff I’m seeing /reading at the moment. If you look at the maps the Russians appear to be taking chunks of land back near Robotyne etc.

Hopefully with Russia grounding there bombers this may change.

And hopefully the F-16's might have something to say about that.

Here’s my idea for a way forward - you can tell me if you think it’s bollocks:

Ukraine should have been building significant defensive lines similar to what the Russians did. They’ve had two years to do so so that it becomes impossible for any Russian advance to go any further than the present front lines or as near as damn it. Ukraine can then retreat to behind the defensive lines and negotiate a peaceful resolution.
Peace breaks out and Russia has no alternative other than to rebuild the shattered towns it now occupies. UN sanctions against Russia are never lifted and the Russian economy collapses to 1974 Cold War proportions. Move on another ten years and the Russian population revolt against Putin and the one-party regime. They can take no more of the shite they are living in whilst Ukraine prospers as part of a strong EU. Russia becomes a democracy and the new Russia seeks to lift sanctions and return to the world stage as an equal partner. The UN accepts their wish under a few conditions. 1. Putin is charged for war crimes
2. All land previously taken from Ukraine is returned.

That’s it. I think it’s possible but the sanctions bit worries me. We (the west) should be banning everyone and everything associated with Russia and it should become ILLEGAL to engage/do business with them whilst the present regime exists. That includes anybody Russian at playing sports, tiddlywinks - whatever.

The alternative is to continue with the war at a cost of more billions and at a cost of more thousands of Ukrainian lives.

Honestly I don’t believe for a second that Putin is compus mentus enough to comprehend whatever info he is being fed (likely not much).

He has been locked up in his bunker now for nearly 4 years avoiding contact with anyone but his personal doctor.

It’s likely to be very similar to the scene in Succession where they’re trying to negotiate a settlement with investors and Logan is rambling wildly in a fever psychosis, but with the Russian way there is nobody brave enough to actually make any decisions.
So that wasn't him in the UAE and Saudi a couple of weeks ago then ? I guess you have evidence for that ?

How do you reckon that?

Because Ukraine cannot win the war without western aid and if you look at it objectively, a lot of political figureheads in a lot of countries are starting to make noise about additional aid. If Trump gets in, I don't think he will, they will cut off aid to Ukraine overnight imo.

Russia just seems in a better place now to win a war of attrition.

I mean respectfully, do you really believe that the guy who lives in a bunker and won’t get within 100 feet of another human was flying overseas? Especially when said guy is notorious for his extensive use of body doubles..
