Russian invasion of Ukraine

From "The Analyst":

UKRAINE SCORES VICTORY AT KUPIANSK

As you are well aware, the Russians have been trying for almost ten months to take the city of Kupiansk and there has been persistent heavy fighting.
They have tried almost every avenue of attack along a sizeable stretch of frontline, but mostly against the village of Sinkyivka.
The Ukrainian forces carried out an armoured and infantry assault against Russian position around the village and this resulted in them taking back a sizeable area, forcing the Russians back into the forest and away from their target.
The Russians decided to withdraw quickly, seemingly having no reserves - Ukrainian intelligence had confirmed that one of the main units here , the Russian 277th Motorised Infantry, had been withdrawn and moved to Lyman.
Ukraine gained a seriously valuable area of territory that enables the strategic defence of the area to be sustained for far longer.
Meanwhile further south near Avdivka, the Russians attacked using no less than 25 tanks - one of the largest such attacks so far in the war. It went horribly wrong, with half of them destroyed by a combination of mines, drones and ATGM’s as Ukrainian forces put up stiff resistance. The rest limped off.

In other developments, it’s been a very odd week for the Russians.
They’re so trigger happy they managed to shoot down their own missiles on the way to Ukraine.
Their nervousness - and lack of central coordination - defending oil refineries and so on seems to have gotten them on edge. This fire first culture without any confirmation of the target (and the fact the missiles were flying west and not east into Russia) seems to advertise a distinct lack of training. The loss of an Su-27 to friendly fire over Crimea was also attributed to similar circumstances.
The news Russia has developed a much improved S400 system long range missile - the N-92, designed specifically for countering the introduction of F-16’s, may not be the success Russia imagined. It turns out that to be of any real use exploiting its range it needs A50-U AWACS aircraft to help provide targets and guide it to the area it will search for them using its passive/active radar.
Russia is effectively out of compatible A-50U’s thanks to Patriot and drone strikes, so much of its range and sophisticated capabilities are of little use if targets cannot be detected. It remains locked down to its ground based radar.
Another new Russian development has been the realisation that the long ranged Kh-101 cruise missiles don’t need all their fuel to reach anywhere inside Ukraine. So latest versions, corroborated by downed parts identification, have reduced fuel loads - but a second warhead has been installed to make them doubly lethal.
In other positive news, France has said it will be delivering ‘hundreds’ of older APC’s to Ukraine over the coming months - most have been in long term storage and they will need some work to get them back in service. Even so they have been looking at supplying the first as soon as June and all of them by early 2025. France will build new ones for its own military.
And finally the Speaker of the US House has said aid for Ukraine will be brought to the floor on April 9th. This will include novel proposals such as using Russian money to pay for it, and structuring it as a loan that makes it more palatable to Republicans - they are too stupid to understand that the aid is actually not physically tax dollars sent to Ukraine, but equipment bought in the US to replace what is sent from old stocks. This will have to pass in the House then be sent to the senate - where it needs 60 votes to pass under senate rules (there are 100
Senators, 2 from each state). The democrats have 52 so 8 republicans senators will need to vote on it too.

Overall it’s been good news for Ukraine but there are always caveats.
What remains impressive is they can still surprise the Russians and carry out successful counter attacks and defence. It proves they’re very far from beaten as some would try and make it seem.

Slava Ukraini !

It's a confusing message about this
The way its described is that Greece is selling it to Ukraine and its "old stock in need of refurbishment "
Where as I read it as stock, such as cluster munitions, to the value of €150m that Greece can no longer use
I read it as artillery ammunition, ie: bullet’s to the likes of myself :) your correct it is confusing but providing Ukraine gets some ammunition from Greece it‘s better than nothing. Sending it via the Czech republic when it’s urgent doesn’t make sense to me.

Up date it’s 175 million of these below
