Russian invasion of Ukraine

Honestly if it’s that vs just giving up and letting him get what he wants just because he might use nukes I don’t see much choice.

From there point of view tho. He gives the order to go full MAD because he’s finished there is a chain of command who all have to be willing for themselves and there families to join him in death. I honestly think there would be a coup before that point but you never know.

I'd rather not gamble the world for the sake of land that Ukraine is likely to surrender in a peace deal in few months time.

Do you think if Hitler had nukes he wouldn't have given orders to use them as part of his scorched earth policy?

Whilst I agree with you, the danger is that we underestimate how mad the mad dwarf is. If he believes he's close to the end of his life he might bring hell to the earth instead.
You assume the Russian protocols depend entirely on Putin’s whim. I don’t think it’s as straightforward as that.

The assumption is based on the worst case scenario. I doubt even the highest level of US intelligence could confidently predict how the Russian protocols would respond to Putin's orders.

What is there to guarantee he hasn't got his equivalent of the praetorian guard to draw up a plan to take control of a missile site and guarantee his orders are carried out?

He'll be dead before they reach Krakow.

And would try to leave a nuclear wasteland if he was. So give in now to stop nukes that may well then lead to nukes anyways when he tries his next step.

I reckon in terms of nukes we are at more risk from Iran/NK getting them or better launch capability from there deals with Putin than Putin himself.

I think they were telling porkies today.

Reuters claiming only 2 out of 8 were intercepted. Get as many of these ammo dumps destroyed as possible, especially the glide bombs.

2 big internet cables were damaged in the Baltic sea too, just a couple of days after russia said Britain was going to do it. Wankers.

The Russian military is accelerating its gains along the front line in Ukraine at a crucial time for the conflict.

Data from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) shows that Russia has gained almost six times as much territory in 2024 as it did in 2023, and is advancing towards key Ukrainian logistical hubs in the eastern Donbas region.

Meanwhile, Ukraine's surprise incursion into Russia's Kursk region is faltering. Russian troops have pushed Kyiv's offensive backwards. Experts have questioned the success of the offensive, with one calling it a "strategic catastrophe" given manpower shortages faced by Ukraine.
