If Ukraine had been part of NATO WW3 would have been fought by now with full nuclear exchanges.
It is NATO doctrine one in all in so every NATO country would have declared war on Russia.
As NATO is a defensive alliance it cannot get involved in non NATO conflicts.

If Ukraine had been part of NATO they would have invaded Georgia instead.

If the claims from Ukraine are true that they were tipped off by Russia's own internal security services about a planned assassination attempt by Chechen special forces sent by Putin to kill Zelensky, then there is hope to be had.

It would suggest there are still powerful people in Russia who don't agree with this invasion and have considerable power and resources to turn the screw on Putin?

if they were tipped off about an assassination attempt would they really go about telling where that information had come from ? or do you think they are planting the seeds of doubt about the support to putin.

Yeah, but publicly returning it or donating it would just highlight further how they've been influenced by foreign money all this time. Let's be honest, the fact that our political parties are taking money from foreign interests is a scandal regardless of whether this war is happening.

On this I agree. It shouldn’t happen because it opens questions. I don’t agree with our funding model for political parties full stop but that’s for a different thread and I’m not sure I have the answers either.

As far as I can tell Russian demands so far have been unrealistic.

pretty sure now that Ukraine just needs to string them out - everywhere except here is confiscating oligarch's wealth - stocks in Russia are worthless and Putin has cash reserves that he can only use to shore up a collapsed rouble or continue to prosecute a war he isn't winning - either way his resources are finite and he must be under pressure at home now
