rvp medical

Goal reported RVP's wages is 235k/week. Obviously, RVP went there for the money after we weren't willing to afford the wages. If either us or Juve decided to just pay the wages, RVP would have went to either of us.

Fergie's obviously desperate. He doesn't want us to strengthen and at the same time, kill off Arsenal.

Sorry to take this slightly off topic but Seeing as this is the only RVP thread unlocked atm and i cant make one of my own i thought id post it here, anyone else seen Graham Hunters interview regarding Van Persie?? apparently "RvP has wanted to join Manchester United since January and called them saying he'd join this summer", thoughts?

One how bloody disrespectful is that to Arsenal and is he allowed to do that? and two why was he so hell bent on going there over us?it might explain why Mancini said "i dont think Van Persie will come here" comments and why we didnt seriously go in for him if we new he didnt want to join us, tbh i know everyone has been saying all summer he only ever wanted to sign for them and never wanted us but i didnt think much of it until now, maybe that was the case after all??

I dont doubt for a second we wanted him but didnt think it was a case of him not wanting us and more a case of us not being able to shift the deadwood and Tevez.

A: They are the only team that would make him the highest player at the club (or on par with the highest player).
B: The vermin have no strikers other than weetabix head, so he would get a game every week.

Maybe, still thats not really the part im most surprised about, its the fact he according to hunter who tbf ive always much preferred to Ballague as an ITK spanish journo said Van Persie took it upon himself to phone United and tell them he would join them all the way back in January mid season with Arsenal! thats a real kick in the teeth to Arsenal if true.

This is the same Graham Hunter who said that David Villa had signed for Real, then days later signed for Barca. I don't think any of them know that much more than us lot to be honest.

nothing of the sort, it was cos he knew he'd be on the bench more often than not. good player and despite his age he would get in most smaller clubs first team, just not ours.

I very much doubt Bobby would have gone to all the effort to sign him merely just to stick him on the bench tbh, you dont sign players of that nature and bench them we obviously had a plan to play him maybe with Aguero and Tevez who knows, ive already said i think hed have been an upgrade on Tevez but either way its immaterial now i just couldnt believe the sheer lack of class of someone phoning up a premier league rival midway through a season whilst still under contract, maybe im just very naive and this happens all the time we just never hear of it in most cases.

Either way 250k a week according to the mail! christ on a bike thats ridiculous, at least it blows 2 things out of the water mind you, the fact this was clearly hugely down to money despite what the 'romantics' say is 1 and the ridiculous notion them lot are skint is also clearly bollocks, no club thats skint can come close to affording such ridiculous wages!

Has any media pundit declared that RVP went to United for the money rather than to City to win trophies yet?

Here's what the dutch boss makes of it:

Van Gaal: "Robin's transfer to United is fantastic not just for himself but for Dutch football too. He followed his heart in this matter."

Expect a LOT more of those comments over the coming days and no mention of his weekly wage, maybe he really did prefer them all along but to ignore his salary is naive.

Interesting that Van Gaal has dropped RVP to the bench until further notice. (See separate thread).

Robin van Persie was unveiled in front of the press with Sir Alex Ferguson this afternoon. The

Dutchman was thankful to Arsenal and Arsene Wenger, insisting that there was no hard feelings.

However, he reiterated how “proud” he now is to be a Manchester United player.

When asked why he opted to join Manchester United over Manchester City, Robin van Persie

replied: “Everyone knows by now that I’m a lover of football. I’m quite principled in that prospect.

It’s always difficult to find a perfect match but I do feel this is the perfect match for me. Man

United breathe football. If you look at all players at the club, the stadium and the manager, my

choice was made based on those things. When I have to make hard decisions, I always listen to

little boy inside me and what he wants. That little boy was screaming for Manchester United.”

F*ck him. Always rated him as a proper c*nt!

Please....

Berbatovs a flop and shit
Hernandez cant play football and is even shitter
Welbeck is laughably over hyped and there are about a dozen better strikers at other clubs in the league.

Van Persie, Rooney and Kagawa ARE world class attacking forwards, they definitely needed him the 3 you mentioned wouldn't get close to our bench.

I reckon, aside from City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool & Spurs, the rest of the prem would take any of Berbatov, Hernandez and Welbeck and get a good return from them.

Just because they wouldn't 'get near' City's bench doesn't make them shit players.

Ok fair enough shit was a bit harsh but you get the gist of my meaning.

Imo none of those players gets close to any genuine top side in europe, your probably right outside the top 6 they probably would get into most sides but in a way that proves my point, for United they aren't good enough to challenge us and the best europe has to offer, they've just signed someone who clearly is good enough, in a way them signing him proves my point, if fungus thought they were up to it he wouldn't have just spunked 24 mil on Van Persie would he? nor would he be offering out Berbatov to anyone who'll listen for pittance.

Last season United had 1 genuine world class forward, Rooney, theyve got great wingers but through the middle they were solely reliant on him, if Fungus thought the aforementioned 3 were good enough he wouldnt have splashed out 40 million on Van Persie and Kagawa, who by the way are both huge upgrades on what they had last year.

Oh and you can add Newcastle to your list of teams who wouldnt touch any of those 3, Cisse and Ba are much better strikers than any of Welbeck, Hernandez or Berbatov.

But it's not ideal to have world class players for every striking spot (when I say ideal, I mean in terms of them wanting to play every game).

Berbatov is out of the picture anyway but Welbeck and Hernandez are certainly decent backup options to have.

Oh and re Newcastle, if Fergie told Pardew that Welbeck or Hernandez were available for decent fees, I reckon they'd be more than interested, certainly for Welbeck.

Your right its not ideal, see our very own situation with a moody Dzeko who cost 27 mil barely getting a game for evidence, thats why i despair when i see people crying out for us to spend another 40 mil on a cavani or Falcao! disaster waiting to happen.

As back ups yeah they are ok, but Welbeck wasnt a back up last season was he, he was first choice along with Rooney almost every week up top and my point is hes nowhere near good enough to be first choice for a club with genuine trophy ambitions, hes a decent young player with potential nothing more, having him as something like a 4th choice back up to Van persie, Rooney and Kagawa is perfectly fine, having him as first choice strike partner is clearly not, thats why fungus has spent on Van Persie and Kagawa and thats why United will be a much more fearsome animal this season than last, theyve suddenly now got 3 world class forwards compared to 1.

Newcastle wouldnt touch Hernandez imo he really is shit, Welbeck maybe as a sub behind Cisse and Ba but neither would get in their team for me.

I don't think Newcastle would turn their noses up at someone who has scored 23 in 55 for United and 25 in 38 for Mexico.

I agree, he's no world class player, but he's a poacher, he scores goals despite his first touch being pants.

Its not just his first touch though is it? his all round game is pants, the only thing hes got going for him is hes a tap in merchant and even lately hes hardly been the most prolific on that score, hes far to limited a player to ever be good enough for a top side.

He had a good first season when no one really new anything about him and he rode the crest of a wave, last season teams cottoned onto his style and he was shocking.

I thought Welbeck was developing into a really good forward. I wonder whether he will feature with Rooney and RVP - you'd tend to think not unless they abandon their wingers.

I'm really glad we did not bid for RVP. He had a great season but he was the one big fish at Arsenal, and I feel we have better forwards. He'll never repeat the season he had at Arsenal again - I hope not anyway

Welbeck is not in the same league as Van Persie, thats a huge upgrade for them no matter 'how well welbeck was progressing'.

The only forward we have who you can say is clearly better than Van persie for me is Aguero, id have Van persie over Tevez and Dzeko all day long without hesitation and nearly every one on here said the same thing when it looked like we were getting him a few months back, Balotelli i have huge hopes for so i wouldnt swap him even though as of today hes not as the level Van Persie currently is, he could be so much more though.

Aguero - Van persie with Balotelli as back up, thats how i wanted us to go into this season.

I don't think Fergie will abandon Welbeck tbh.

RVP & Rooney will obviously be the main threats in major games if available, but I'd say Welbeck will still get a good 25 appearances under his belt (fitness permitting).

I think he holds Welbeck in high regard and i'm not of the belief that signing RVP will harm Welbeck. It probably takes the pressure off him a little (as he was United's #1 out and out striker last year) and he could probably learn from RVP on movement and shooting technique.

It'll be Hernandez who'll get less gametime and if Rooney, RVP & Welbeck can have a good season, then Henrique may take Hernandez' spot and he may well be on his way (loan deal perhaps) next season.

That's my take on it anyway.

-- Fri Aug 17, 2012 3:53 pm --

You'd be stupid to not want Tevez lining up for you this season, unless it's simply your dislike for the player rather than a lack of belief in his ability.
