RvP obsession?

I DONT see the point in buying van persie hes no better than balotelli so whats the point.

I'd go one further and say he's no better than any of our four first team strikers. Any of our strikers could manage 30 goals a season if they played every match, took penalties and were the focal point of our team. He's a good striker and I wouldn't turn my nose up at him should one of our guys leave but to say we're obsessed is ridiculous as I don't think most city fans even want him.

According to SSN he says that he would prefer to go to the rags If they can match Shreks wages. That means one thing to me. He aint coming here, for sure.

This. If Balotelli is on the pitch he WILL take a penalty. Next up is Aguero. I can't see RVP taking ANY penalties if he comes to us. So that's 22 goals a season if he gets to play every game.

As to the Mirror. It is the most Anti-City paper that there is. It is so bad I save my blood pressure and don't even pick it up for a glance at the sport pages any more. The MUEN was always anti City - except for the guy covering City so becoming a member of the Mirror group was perfect fit for them. The moderation of comments shows this on an hourly basis. For example, Rags can post whatever crap they like in 'City' stories whereas City comments on RAG articles are heavily regulated.

Say what you want but RVP and Rooney in the same team is a worrying thought. I really hope he doesn't go there. I also don't think city need him though and you can't buy just to stop someone else from having a player.

You're really stupid if you think balotelli is better than RVP. However with Aguero its debatable but RVP is better than him.

IMO Mario is better than RVP..

He is 21 instead of 29.
RVP has a nighmare injury record which will only get worse the older he gets as well as longer time to recover.
Mario will be top scorer in the prem within the next 3 seasons IMO.

I think absolutist comments like this are over the top. There are many factors to consider in such a comparison, not the least of which is the vast difference in age and durability of the two players. In many ways it is valid to suggest Balotelli is superior because his career is ahead of him. RVP is very fragile and it wouldn't be shocking to see him signed and then make less than 20 appearences.

I hope we don't sign him.

Why not ?,, We did with Nasri..

If, as reported, Van Persie wants to sign for United and wants £220k a week then thankfully he won't be coming to us. Not wanted, not needed and not worth it ! He's obviously after the big payday despite saying that money wasn't his motivation and he obviously realises he's more likely to get into United's team ahead of Wellbeck etc than he is ahead of Sergio, Tevez, Balotelli or Edin. Let's just hope Mancini isn't as obsessed with him as the media makes out.
