Sadly, it looks like our challenge is over for this season..

"""Mancini's points per game ratio since taking over is 2.25 points per game, which would equal 85 points over a season. That would have been enough to make us champions twice in the last ten years.

I would say that if he can do that being drafted in half way through a season, with someone else's team and having to teach them how to defend on the way, then it's reasonable to expect his points per game ration next season to be slightly higher.

A slight rise to 2.5 points per game would see us with 95 points, which would have made us champions every single season out of the last ten (it would have gone to goal difference in 2004-05 with Chelsea).

So I put it to you that Mancini is more than capable of winning the title and that you are talking bollocks.""

Its you talking bollocks pal cos a points ratio under RM is not 2.25 per game.... its just over 2 with 33 points from 16 games.....projected over a season is 78 points..

A slight rise to 95 points? LoL

Yes. Hands up. Slip of the calculator. I was talking bollocks.

But I don't think it's unreasonable to assume that, with a close season to prepare and strengthen, Mancini's current ratio would improve dramatically above 2.06 points per game. I think next season he's well capable of putting us in the 85-90 points bracket, and that makes us title challengers.

Just sit back and watch, we will do well to hit 70 points next season. This summer will be huge, we will be seen as a threat for every game we go into, teams will defend against us instead of attack us, meaning games we play in will be less open, and less likely we will be able to score so many and win so many. Other clubs are going to improve and I hope we do to, but we haven't got much more to improve on, we just need consistency throughout a season

Mmmm... except for the small contribution he made by signing the players.

They were mostly no brainers, those signings. Any one of us could bring in good players when we're given £250 million. The trick was to get the best out them and Hughes blew it.

As much as I agree, does it matter anymore ?
4th is in our hands now and I'm not complaining.

Another pathetic Hughes out thread, course bob has been perfect, not put a foot wrong.

Only on bluemoon.

no manager is perfect but I feel you are mistaken to compare the two

Mancini has aready won more in his management career than that clown hughes will ever win and that is supposing the welsh wizzard ever gets another job!

and that fvcking clown Hughes wasted the best chance in a generation for us to win preimiership
by wasting millions and crap tactics

a total wank stain in our history !!
imho of course

just for the hard of thinking its not me throwing comparisions out, its mancini fans thinking they need to show hughes up to atone mancini's dreadful start to his city career who throw all the stats out.

franny lee take over and alan ball maybe but to put hughes in that kind of category well you really do not have a clue.

Ahhhhhhhhh well,
beat the RAGs on Saturday and win our game in hand and we're 5 points behind Trafford Rangers.

Cant be that bad surely ?!?!?!

We have moved into a debate here that neither side can win. On the day of the Sunderland Game at Home for the first time I could see where the doubts about Hughes were coming from. We attacked them with the force and pace of Barca and yet defended like a Pub Side. He paid the price later that Night. We lost a Manager who I am sure had a Trophy in him.

By 8pm we had an upgrade. Bobby has been there and done it at the Highest level and immediately solved our major problem -poor organisation at the Back. This was done at the expense of our cavalier attacking approach and although not entirely negative it cost us a place at Wembley with defeats against Scum and Stoke and made us look poor against Hul and Liverpool. Time and the ability of both the Players and the Manager and his coaching Staff look like they have cemented fourth spot and the Champions League.

So what do we take and learn from this?

Was Hughes a failure? No. He took us to the next level -and good luck in your next role.
Is Bobby "Better". Almost certainly.
Do we need a change? Not in a Million years.

Is the future Sky Blue ? You bet your life it is

agree with this, the weird thing is i was thinking today that how much i look forward to every game, then i thought, i always have done, rich or poor, good or bad, Ball, Hughes or Mancini is fucking brilliant being a blue.

Calm down, not got fourth yet!

And Mancini V Hughes? Hughes was a CITY manager. Everything was hard, but we had fun doing it and if it doesn't work it doesn't work, because we don't give a .........

Mancini? Boring, useless rubbish.... apart from those 11 goals in 2 games......

At least Hughes was consistent?
