Did I mention I'd been on Eggheads?
Roger Godsiff, an MP in Portsmouth, has tabled an Early Day Motion in Parliament asking for a trial of a safe standing area.

The Football Supporters' Federation's Safe Standing Campaign is supported by Aston Villa, Peterborough United, the Safe Standing Roadshow and Stand Up Sit Down.

AIMS: To persuade the Government, football authorities and football clubs to accept the case for introducing, on a trial basis, limited sections of standing areas at selected grounds in the stadiums of Premier League and Championship football clubs.

The FSF needs all fans to help. What can you do?

Step 1 - Sign the FSF's Safe Standing Petition (if you haven’t already)…
Step 2 - Email your MP from this link, or visit their office, and ask them to sign Roger Godsiff’s Safe Standing EDM 573...
<a class="postlink" href="http://fsfsafestandingcampaign.appspot.com/mp/write" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://fsfsafestandingcampaign.appspot.com/mp/write</a>
Step 3 - Let us know what response you get via safestanding@fsf.org.uk. We want to see which MPs sign the EDM and will follow up those who don’t.
Step 4 - Spread the word. Send this page to your mates via email, Facebook, Twitter or whatever other social media the cool kids use nowadays. If you’re involved with a supporters’ organisation, fanzine or website use your links to promote this page.

Want to do more? Contact the FSF. In the coming weeks we expect to see a great deal more activity and need volunteers who are willing to commit time and fight for the cause. Email: safestanding@fsf.org.uk

It is strange.
The ''Villa want standing areas'' thread gets 20 comments and 413 hits and lots of comments like ''good luck Villa hope you get it'' type comments.

This thread which is actually giving fans info as to how fans can actively take part in getting the government's regulation overturned, gets 1 comment and 70 hits....

If you want safe standing then YOU have to do something about it.
You can have it all - but how much do you want it?????????

Please contact your local MP...... don't sit there thinking someone else will do it.
Thank you.

email sent.
While I do not wish to stand at games, I respect the right of those that wish to do so and would rather that the areas for them to stand were as safe as possible (also meaning that they are not blocking the view of those that are not able to stand.)

I think safe standing is a great idea. I just don't understand why Villa are the main club showing interest in it.... Looking at the game now, the Holt end is half empty! it would look even emptier when stood...

Would make a massive difference for city though!

Because in the German grounds you get more people in the standing areas as per seated areas, so it is cheaper. Villa know if they can knock the prices down they will get more people in.

I suppose so, I guess we will just have to wait and see!
