Sagna at Centre Half

Would also be very good in a back 3 when chasing a game

Definitely agree with this. With the squad we have, it wouldn't be a failure like it was under Bobby Manc. In fairness to Pellegrini, he's had us playing 4 -1-5 recently to chase games and it's paid off!

He played solid yesterday and with more time playing at that position, Sagna can only get better. I just hope it wasnt just a one off and Pelle moves him back outside. DeMichelis has played some good games for us since arriving but I think the mistakes and lack of quickness have really started to show this season....Hope to see more of Sagna at CB!!!!

Hard to judge really because for one, Villa were shite & two, he had Delph, Fernando & Fernandinho all dropping back to help out plus Sterling & Navas tracking back, so we looked like one of those teams who has an organised defence, as opposed to the usual bunch of frightened turkeys legging it about in a random fashion.

What he did have to do, he looked very assured though. But I would have to see him play as part of the wild turkey shoot behind Yaya & Silva, to get a true idea.

Amazing how Sagna has turned around his form this season. I was in the "get rid crowd" after his 1st season here. Glad to have been wrong, especially with Zabbas' injuries. Sagna stood up well yesterday and a little run in that position would not be unexpected.

Sagna is a good player especially at defending. He's played CH before for Arse and done OK.
Did better than OK yesterday too. But...
It was only Villa.

Villa were no threat at all and we had the protection of Fernando who was excellent yet again alongside 'Dinho and Delph. MDM would of looked equally as comfortable. Sagna playing centre back for this season at least is very much last resort. He played there yesterday so MDM could get a much needed rest in preperation for Tuesday when he will be back there alongside Otamendi.

Sagna is a very clever defender and a powerful athlete, and we know he has filled in at centre half before; but it's just a stop gap, there is a reason why there are no 5'9 central defenders in the PL. And as has been pointed out many times already, villa were woeful.

But many 5'9 central defenders have had great success over the years......such as Baresi and Cannavaro and even Mascherano.

i like the way he guide our young player like nacho and sterling. that kind of senior player we need to keep in the club (including zaba, of course). they can be mentor for young kids, and learn from their example.

City are likely to offer Bacary Sagna (32) a new 12-month deal, after he cemented his position as first-choice right-back. [Mail]

I'm unsure on this, on the one hand he's been a 8/10 this season but I was half expecting a new right back. Was thinking earlier in the week Zaba might go but his versitility might save him.

He didn't cement his place he played becuse zab has been injured
He is worth keeping and pep must think so as well if this is true

New one already? He has still 1 year left after this season.
