Saints (A) Post Match Thread

Yes, Stan, his confidence is clearly shot to pieces, but kudos to the lad for giving his all even when things are not going perfectly for him.
He isn't 'back'. He isn't affecting games. He has no goals and no assists this season. It's all down to him to start producing. He had a good 20 minutes today. Nothing more. Running his knackers off is the absolute minimum he should be expecting to do.

Thought on the balance of play they deserved a point. We had the better chances but they created some good moments and pushed us onto the back foot for alot of the game.
Our best chances came on the counter.
They lost they're best Striker during a period when they were on top.
A different ref/var might have given them a pen.
Nice to get a scrappy win for once.
Yep, 3 points away - just as many as the dippers got for scoring 7.

Didn’t Mason do it the other season v Southampton. They wasted time from the first minute and nothing. We score the winner in the last minute and he then booked Eddy for time wasting. Amount of soft bookings we get is pathetic yet dippers can constantly make 10 to 15 fouls without a card.
Not sure of the game, but yep Eddie has been done for that in the past and I am sure you're right it was Mason who as we all know is another c**t.
At one point a few years ago at the Etihad when the opposition had a goal kick I would go for a piss have a fag on the spiral and bee back in time to see the keeper take said kick, all true .

Don't think they deserved anything out of the game. They created nothing in the second half and we messed up atleast 3-4 great chances. We have also been missing out best striker, but it is what it is. They 25 minutes in the first half was great pressure but the second half, I felt was controlled by us effectively and we could have ended 2,3-0.

Correct, Ederson had virtually nothing to do.

Yes they were average a few times last season. They were brilliant for most of it though and we’ve been crap all season.
"Brilliant " eh....they were bang average & grinded results out( as they say)a lot of the time,we do it & its shite,13 games in...ì wouldn't start wanking just yet...

Southampton have a really good manager (and he seems a really nice bloke) who has built a very exciting and effective squad. And today they played very well so i think we had better not underestimate what our team actually did today. We won 1-0 and it could have been 3 or 4 if we had taken our chances. I don't remember the Saints creating a single clear cut chance in the 95 minutes. I know we were not at our best but we were still good enough to beat deservedly the team currently third in PL. Defensively we were excellent - Eddie even turned creator! Dias was faultless and Stones was even better (if possible!) and brought the ball out on occasions in a way I haven't seen in a long while when there was no out ball, Walker had a good game defending and going forward. Gundo and Bernie also carried out their defensive duties diligently and I thought Bernie added energy to the midfield, though leaving the creative work to the peerless KdB! I think Pep does pay more attention to defence than in previous years ... maybe because we have no centre forward (or anyone else!) who is in scoring form. Chance creation has never been our problem and we have had at least 3 almost "unmissable" chances to win each of the games we have drawn. When we start taking those chances ... Still I'm delighted with our win today - I'll certainly sleep well tonight!

He made a sub on 70 minutes and then Foden was waiting to come on a minute later but took a while for play to break.

I dont know what you're expecting but you're not going to get many managers making substitutions earlier than that in a game that's in the balance.
I'm expecting to make more than 1 substitution in a match occasionally.
Foden was waiting to come on but didn't.
Then Ake stripped off and stood on the sideline and didn't come on
Whats that all about.
Mahrez was the only substitution today

Rodri was better than Gundo today and one of our best players on the day. He had a couple of early poor moments getting caught is possession but did well thereafter.
Nonsense. Rodri was solid but almost exclusively passed backwards. Gundog was excellent and brought the save of the day from their keeper.
