Salford City (H) | Post Match Thread

Posters to BBC decided (a bit late in the day) that the BBC had no right to televise such a one sided slaughter and that the Gooners v Rags was the match they should cover (surprise surprise!). I want to offer an alternative view. I thought yesterday's was a great view, especially those shots of the class of 92 wriggling and squirming in their overcoats. Todays match ... Well, when the draw was made, I thought, "Great! One of the ******* will go out!" Now, I think it's rubbish. One of the two most obnoxious clubs in world football will still be in the hat."
Make no mistake, the BBC like all the other rags that turned out yesterday thought there was a good chance of some 'magic of the fa cup' and a giant killing yesterday because we've been out of sorts. Back under your rocks you cunts

Pep damned him with faint praise. “He can play better.”
Only if you give him minutes, Pep.
Tbf he says that about every player, all the young ones and some others like grealish . He fosters the vibe that they cannot get big heads but to be humble and keep improving

If pep thinks he can fit in with the usual players and in prem games then he will get minutes, now we are out of the funk we have been in he might decide now is the time

It was very exciting to see the youngsters playing how we used to play with raz and sane , quick passing , fowards play, etc , freer than we have played all season

The faster tempo is so much better imho. The future is blue. I’m confident.

How did that go then?
now he is a proper fucking herbert.

Fully expected us to get beat by whatever team you were going to put out but certainly not by eight clear goals. Always wanted us to remain competitive for as long as possible but as soon as that early opener went in I knew it was going to be a long hard afternoon. Were we poor and you very good? Can only say yes to both although my main disappointment wasn't the final scoreline but the fact that we looked like a team who hadn't played together before and without any organised structure. We gave you far too much space and time on the ball, constantly backed off, lost the one on one tussles and quite honestly, other than really late on, never really looked like scoring just once to give us something to cheer about.

Other than when the teams came onto the pitch and at the very start of the game it was obvious that with the 'regular' vocal supporters being spread all over the top tier that our varied repertoire of songs wouldn't stand a chance of being sung or heard only to be replaced repeatedly by quite frankly monotonous anti-City chants. Add to that the clowns in front of me and my mates who spent the whole afternoon frothing at the mouth while gesticulating to the home supporters made for an all together embarrassing but I suppose predictable scenario from non genuine Salford supporters.

As a lover of lower and non-league football I have to say though that I couldn't watch football week in and week out in huge (although impressive looking) super-bowl like stadiums which is obviously par for the course at the highest level. While having a perfect view from the top tier I felt an unreal sense of disconnect being so far away from the action. I guess it's what you're used to but it definitely isn't for me. Give me leaky roofs and leaning on pitch side railings every time!

From our point of view I'm pretty confident that manager Karl Robinson can and will pick the players up after Saturday's mauling ahead of our league game against Fleetwood Town this coming weekend. Certainly hope so!

All the best ............

Respect for not reverting to kicking lumps out of us like others!

Late to the party, but an excellent win and good to see so many young players come in and deliver strong performances. A few sloppy passes but always to be expected when you make a number of changes and many haven't played for a while. Pep continues to be a master at negotiating these early rounds with a solid spine of experience to assist the younger players. O'Reilly was strong and committed at full back and got his goal.

5 English players started the game and 6 finished it with 6 of the goals scored by Englishmen. Whilst not all academy products, that's still something that's great to see. I thought Mubama was very good, running hard, putting himself about and other than the timing of some of his runs it was good to see such a physical and committed player come in. He didn't look bothered about the occasion. McAtee grew into the game and finally managed to get on the ball a bit more and excellent for him to get his goals. He said exactly the right things post-game as well, which will go down well with Pep.

Hope the ex-Rags and rags in attendance enjoyed it as much as I did.

Yeah a couple sat next to us in 241. A bit mouthy amongst themselves but generally good natured - they could hardly be otherwise with the way the game went.
One on the phone mid-game telling someone how much it was like a library. I was minded to point out it wasn’t Real in the CL semi, and that we were 5-0 up at that point.

But overall agree with the other comments about how great it was to see a full house, and so many families there. In stark contrast to so many other grounds this weekend.
