Not looking forward to the BBC hype machine getting behind Salford, probably have a reporter on the team coach going to the Etihad, like they used to do on cup final day.

The dirt track round the outside you can see was the speedway track, Halifax Dukes used to ride there mainly on a Saturday if I recall correctly.
Speedway was very popular at that time but has massively declined since. Kenny Carter was Halifax's top rider and a well known figure.
Belle Vue Aces used to draw big crowds to the old Hyde Road stadium, not sure how many watch the Aces now. Could do with some investment and PR as rarely hear anything of speedway now.

What do the 92s chant & sing ?
"CITY
Yewnytid
92 92 92
Empty seats at home
Were goin down with Lims millions
Neville is a wanker"

I think we should be told ??

Aces were a world renowned club & team.

Saturday evening rides regularily attracted 12/15 k when Peter Craven was in his pomp.

Following the condeming of the stadium under the Taylor report, we bought it along with the 3 exhibition halls, Kings Hall and the derelict zoo and fun fair.

At its peak in the late 50s, it was the largest non coastal leisure resort in the UK once attracting almost 100,000 visitors across a bank holiday week end, and boasted the largest sprung dance floor in Europe !!

Eric Boocock was the Halifax Star in the seventies, his brother Nigel rode for Coventry I believe

Surely it's going to be deeply embarrassing for them hearing nothing but united songs for 90 minutes from their own "fans"

imagine their players playing in the biggest game of their careers and all they can hear from the away section is songs about a different club and players that didn't know Salford existed.

Anyone else hope we go strong and absolutely BATTER these twats?!
We can go as weak as possible and still realistically expect an overwhelming victory. Our EDS play against this level in whatever the papa johns/autowindshield trophy is called now. We loan out our weaker eds players to teams better than these. There should be a battering regardless of who plays.
