They need to find a small ground capacity no more than 500/1000 and in a built up area in Salford! From the snippets I've seen it seems the fans are ok with it as they plan on starting again and now will have a clean slate to work with

Considering their lowest attendance was just over two thousand and their highest nearly six thousand last season when they were getting pummeled every week, I think they probably need somewhere a bit biggerThey need to find a small ground capacity no more than 500/1000 and in a built up area in Salford!
They’ll be starting at the bottom of the pyramid and I thought they could have a ground around a built up area where people can walk there! Yeah you probably right maybe 2k ground!Considering their lowest attendance was just over two thousand and their highest nearly six thousand last season when they were getting pummeled every week, I think they probably need somewhere a bit bigger
I think we know how this is going to pan out, Neville will move Salford city into the ground he's been sniffing after, and then play the knight in shining armour by letting the rugby lads have their old ground.....for a fee of courseThey’ll be starting at the bottom of the pyramid and I thought they could have a ground around a built up area where people can walk there! I was invited to a corporate hospitality do at the willows about 20 years back. Fkinhell it was rough. It was like the food you'd get at your nans house.I acknowledge that I cried just now when I read the news on the BBC website. My local club, my brother's favourite he used to watch them a lot and his first home used to overlook their old ground. We could watch the match from his back bedroom window..... although he never did, he was in the ground.:-)
Attended lots of concerts and dances etc at the old ground and our Union meetings were held there until it was closed.
I was invited by one of the Salford Council departments to a match in a box with a meal etc at the new ground, so even though Rugby is (obviously) not my favourite sport it is close to my heart.
A lot of reasons for the demise but I don't think Salford Council come out of it smelling of roses. :-(
The new stadium was perfectly located. Right on the M60. If the trafford centre can take 250,000 people over a weekend, then the AJ Bell stadium can take 10,000 easily. You couldn't get a more accessible location for a stadium. Walking distance from the tram stop at the Trafford centre. A massive car park all the way round it as well. It's gone tits up because the interest isn't there. People aren't bothered enough to watch Rugby league, and that is why so many clubs struggle to stay alive. The interest from younger generations is dwindling. And can you blame them with the draw of football available right on their doorstep.Extremely depressing news, but it was always coming. The (former) owners are disgusting asset strippers, but hopefully the phoenix club will be able to rise back up the ranks.
I think moving from the Willows was always the biggest blow to the club to be in the arse end of nowhere in Irlam, but between Koukash and the last owners of the club, outside some extremely surprising challenge cup and playoff runs, the club was in the doldrums for years.
I think any phoenix team need to stay away from the AJ Bell or whatever it's called these days, perhaps even consider a groundshare with Swinton Lions at a new locale. Maybe see if they can play Leigh Sports Village til they're sorted.

I went to a do at the Willows around the time it was being shut down. Got absolutely ratarsed. Good night out though.I was invited to a corporate hospitality do at the willows about 20 years back. Fkinhell it was rough. It was like the food you'd get at your nans house.

That’s photoshopped surely as we don’t have any history before 2008/9 ..It's been a hard year being a Salford fan, the two owners have let the club rot but the problems began years ago. Hoping we can create a new club with the spirit of the old, run properly and are competitive next season if we manage to get a squad and coach together within 6 weeks.
Cracking photo of both City and Salford in some of the glory years posted by the MEN today.

Dumped in Dumplington? As someone from Weaste, I can tell you the majority of the locals did not want it moved from the Willows. - Not that what you're saying is wrong, I just think the heart of the club was ripped out and implanted in Barton/Irlam/Trafford whichever you wanna call it. - But again, I do agree with especially the latter part of waht you're saying.

The ‘pyramid’ is basically only two leagues from next season. They’ll be starting at the bottom of the pyramid and I thought they could have a ground around a built up area where people can walk there! Yeah you probably right maybe 2k ground!
Doubtful I’d have thought. The council own the stadium and previously when the football team, together with Sale, tried to buy it, they preferred to keep it and try and recoup some of the money they’ve lost on it so far.Salford City to move into the stadium and flog Moor Lane?
Be interesting in the coming months on the rugby situation and if Salford City are in the mix for promotion. The ground is ready made for the type of crowds in league one and the potential away followings.Salford City to move into the stadium and flog Moor Lane?
