"Same old munich" chant

One positive was that just after they scored a few people tried to start a 'who's that lying on the runway etc' and they were drowned out very quickly by a chorus of boos and a 'city, city, city' chant. Some progress anyway.

Good to hear, I always knew that there were more intelligent than stupid blues anyways.

I have no idea why it winds them up.

The amount of Hillsbrough and Heysel songs they chant renders their outrage meaningless.

Fuck em.
i know what your saying, no need to stoop to there level though

I don't fella. Never have, never will.

Just commenting on their expectance of every other supporter to doff their caps and show respect to the air tragedy when they chant about other disasters.
i 100% agree with that mate

My point is that how can we congratulate ourselves on being impeccable and then go on to sing the same old chants again? I know it's been debated for decades, but we may as well have booed through the whole thing last year, because we just look like dicks again now. i don't agree with it being chanted anywhere, home or away, but somehow, today, after what happened last year, it seemed so much worse.

And anyway, it's not about their expectations in terms of what respect other fans should or shouldn't pay to them, it's about respect for ourselves. When it gets sung I have no respect for any of my fellow supporters who sing it. not one ounce.
I felt like throwing myself into the Salford quays as I walked back amongst those smug f*ckers, but i will never ever lower myself or give them the satisfaction (whatever they do or sing to other clubs) of them having one over on me.

I'm sorry if this has already been posted today, but I've got to get it off my chest.

I am gutted about today. Really f*cking gutted. i don't think we played that badly and i don't think there was a lack of desire. I see progress on the pitch and that it what matters to me personally.

Where I don't see progress is the idiots who continue to use the M word in our chants . What the hell are they doing it for? Why can they not see that all the respect and credit we got from last year's silence is completely obliterated the moment that word comes out of our lips again? I just don't get it. We may as well have chanted through the whole silence last year. Impeccable? Give me a break.
What respect and credit is this? We were up for a major slagging if M was mentioned, Sky even turned up the microphones in the hope we would mar the minutes silence.
Suppose you could have started some songs yourself, I'm sick of fellow Blues making out that
we only sing songs mentioning events 51 years ago.
Get off your high horse.

And the further point is, Firwood, I don't even think it particularly winds them up. i really don't. They don't get "hurt" by us chanting it. it's just a stick they have to beat us with when morons are stupid enough to fall into their trap

Re: "Same old ******" chant

the munich chants are sung by a minority now, but how the hell united fans can take any moral high ground is beyond me. coming out of the ground theyre chanting about michael shields. to me it all smacks of double standards.

Right. First of all, calm down. Now I am not a "stupid twat" nor an "imbecile" in my opinion. I am a lad who has used the "M" word far too liberally in the past and am sorry for it. I used to (not any more I may add) justify calling them ****** because I thought they were what they are now because of the air disaster (i.e, cashing in). I'm 33 now and respect them far more.

Thanks for the abuse though. Just what I needed after being at the game today.

Course there was respect and credit for it. it was mentioned in every single newspaper, every radio bulletin and on all broadcast telly that I saw. Even if that hadn't been the case, we had credit for ourselves and self respect.
And, for the record, i didn't make out that we ONLY sing songs mentioning events 51 years ago. i said I was gutted that after last year, in the very same place, we make dicks of ourselves again
