Samir Nasri has signed a new five-year deal with City.

The French play-maker, who joined the Blues from Arsenal in 2011, has committed his long-term future to the Club by penning a contract that will run until 2019.

Nasri has played 129 games for City so far, scoring 22 goals including 11 last season - his best haul yet in sky blue.

He scored the opening goal in the final day title-clincher against West Ham United last May and also was on target in the 3-1 Capital One Cup final win over Sunderland.

In his three years as a City player, he has won two Premier League titles and the League Cup and the 27-year-old admitted he is looking forward to spending the peak years of his career with the Blues.

“I’m really happy to have signed this contract and to have committed my future with City,” said Nasri.

“I’m 27 now and if you listen to some of the best managers in the game, they say that a midfield player’s best years are between 27 and 30 so I hope that I will give my best years to City.

“It took me time to adjust to living in Manchester because when you move here from London, it is a big change, but last year everything was perfect – I enjoyed my football and I love living in Manchester, feel very settled and I think that showed on the pitch.

“That’s why I’ve agreed this new contract – because I feel very much at home. Our supporters have been right behind me and it gives me the confidence to play my best game.

“Now I’m looking forward to the new season and to defending our title again.”

Brilliant news.

Now let's tie down other stars too.

Though not literally, of course.

I think that he will be a very important player for us over the next five years......great news!!.

Great news this if he can keep up the form of last year.

I was seriously pissed off with him in 12/13 but thought he was excellent last year. His goal and the celebration that followed at Wembley was one, if not the highlight of the season for me.

Great news. Think we will see the best of him in the next few years. The ideal replacement for Yaya in midfield if he goes.

Great player but not a replacement for toure. He doesn't have the pace or power. Keep him playing where he is.

Absolutely agree. Great news. Wonder if deschamps is regretting
his inexplicable decision not to take Samir to Brazil.

In my opinion, while clearly the better side in most aspects of the game against Germany, in the quarter finals, France quite obviously lacked the necessary craft & guile needed to break them down, something Samir would've surely provided

Great news indeed. Not sure if he could be yaya's replacement tho, different players altogether.

Pleased to hear this.

12 months ago I wasn't at all keen and would have been happy to see him go. However he made himself an integral part of the side last season. His classy style suits us. Although his mouth has got him in trouble with the French footballing establishment, his PR over here is excellent. Comes across as an intelligent, likeable guy. Well I think so anyway.

Each season we are becoming more stable, which can only be good. (Yaya take note).

the moment he ducked in the wall to let united grab the winner he has grown at the club,i and am sure zabba by the way he looked could of fucking strangled nasri for that, but credit where its due he has been excellent for us. since then
