CLAIREFONTAINE, France (Reuters) – Samir Nasri heads a list of doubtfuls as France contend with a string of injuries before they entertain the United States in a friendly at the Stade de France Friday.
"We still have some little problems," coach Laurent Blanc told reporters at France's training camp in the outskirts of Paris Tuesday.
Manchester City midfielder Nasri is suffering from a knee injury.
"(The knee injury) is a tricky one that he picked up while playing at Arsenal," said Blanc.

Now the French are saying he picked his injury up against Villareal - contradicting what Blanc said about it being a recurring problem at Arsenal.

A knee injury has ruled midfielder Samir Nasri out of France's upcoming friendlies against the United States and Belgium.

The France Football Federation confirmed that Nasri was not fit to take his place after undergoing tests at their headquarters at Clairefontaine.

The 24-year-old is set to return to Manchester City to begin his recovery ahead of their next match against third-placed Newcastle on November 19.

"Samir Nasri reported for France duty at Clairefontaine (Yvelines) with a left patellar tendon injury," a statement on the FFF's official website, www.fff.fr, read.

"A clinical examination and additional tests confirmed the inflammation and, consequently, the inability of the player to be fully fit has meant he will not play in the two internationals against the United States (Friday, November 11) and Belgium (Tuesday, November 15).

"Samir Nasri will now be allowed to return to his club."

Nasri was an unused substitute in City's 3-2 win at QPR after picking up the injury during the Champions League trip to Villarreal last week.

Now and then after I have done alot of running, my tendon in the knee swells and it really hurts! Its where your tendon goes into stress.

It took about 7-10 days for the swelling to go down.

Unfortunatly this will probably happen again in the future for Samir. He has the best medics and physios around him to minimise this problem from flairing up so often though.

Its safe to say he will miss France friendlies and this international break has come at a good time for him to now recover. He may miss the Newcastle game but depends on how swollen it is.
