QPR didn't look particularly demoralised last week.
They were set up to defend at all costs. They conceded possession. Surely you can see there's a difference between saying that we're going to give you possession and hope for a counter and saying that we want possession but can't take it?

Just making the point that having possession doesn't always demoralise the opposition.
It's a good point, and I should have given more nuance to mine. I suppose our fans and players wouldn't feel demoralized a bit if we set up to park the bus against a superior team. There just aren't many in that category.

Re: Nasri

Another example is look how nervous and on-edge all of us were yesterday when Liverpool was keeping possession often near the halfway line. It's demoralizing to the opposition.

Yep, without possession you're getting more tired chasing the ball and you're under big mental pressure. You're more relaxed having the ball in your legs 40m from opposition goal than defending your own one while they have it in front of it.

Re: Nasri

people give nasri a hard time.

He wasn't the worst player v QPR, Milner and Barry were both poor.

As for turning back on that free-kick, barry turns his back on every shot, as do most players in world. Gerrard goal yesterday he turned his back.

But Barry didn't do it at derby, it's all that matters to some.. what was the game last year we conceded deflection one with him turning his back - chelsea away or liverpool at home in league cup. or Both?

Glenn Hoddle always believed that it is more tiring to be in possession than it is for the opposition. But then he also believed that disabled people were merely paying for their sins of a past life.

Yeah, that's why he made such a big managerial career :)

Kick it up, on proper English way, leave this Spanish passing shit :)

Personally, I think the answer is that there has to be balance. There is no point having tons of possession and doing fuck all with it most of the time, there is a time and place for being more direct but by and large playing a cultured passing game is the way forward. You won't convince me that we don't need to be more direct at times and I don't just mean lumping it forwards.

I fully agree with that. There's a lack of balance but I find myself pondering central midfield as the root cause more than any of our more advanced players. They need to get plays started much more quickly. Whether that is down to the manager or the personnel is speculation, but the manager needs to sort it out quickly. It's his job on the line.

Re: Nasri

Nasri has escaped so much criticism this season, he's been very disappointing.

Goes hiding, indecisive and a total bottle job at times.

I'd sell him if he we could and got a reasonable amount for him.

I honestly don't see what he brings to us, before you mention his good games for us. How many is that? probably a handful all season.
