Samir Nasri

I don't like the baggage that Nasri brings with him but he's a fantastic player, if Pep can turn him around he'd be like a new signing.

At the club. Any period. What history?

Feigning ignorance or genuinely uninformed about one of your own players? Even the player himself has publicly acknowledged he has acted a jerk since peaking at Arsenal, been a disappointment since

Drip doctors & the ongoing FIFA doping investigation? Sex scandal. Gallas calling him out for his unprofessionalism at Euro 2008, his idiocy that led to the FFF ban in his mid 20s. Sabotaged his team's chances under Pellegrini against Barcelona, again with Sevilla under Sampaoli & routinely described as arrogant by City teammates

The cheek on the player though, leaving Arsenal citing a lack of ambition yet he has shown little ambition himself as a professional

Samir nasri can play that deeper role better than both KDB and David. Like poetry in motion the way he pulls the strings.

Totally agree, his passing, his technical ability, his vision, is easily up there with the likes of Alonso, he could definitely play this role with ease

its madness to let him leave, only reason is that HE would prefer to leave as mentioned by Pep...people who slag his "attitude" etc just feed into the media, anti City, anti Nasri narrative. Pathetic really.
In relation to your points..
1/Drip doctors?..no outcome for any investigation yet.
2/ Sex scandal?..are you serious, do you write for the Daily Star?..a pro footballer can shag whoever he wants, no business of ours. By that measure half the league would be banned
3/ FF ban and Gallas comments ? Maybe he was at fault there, who knows, who cares what he did with FFF. Deschamps was an arrogant prick himself. Played his best football at City whilst out of French setup.
3/ Sabotaged his teams chances v Barca ? so do we get rid of Sergio as well for what he did against Chelsea last year ? It's not like he is a serial offender with red cards.
4/ Routinely describe as arrogant by City teammates ?..i'm yet to hear one such description from the mouth of a teammate, let alone "routine" quotes. In fact Pep just mentioned his attitude and support around teammates was spot on in recent tour to US.
5/ Little ambition and cheek leaving Arsenal? ...Well we know what Arsenal's ambition is i.e to make a profit. Titles are a poor second. His own ambition was to win titles and he has two in the bag in which he made a solid contribution.

Let's not forget how well he played in our title years, especially 2014. His downfall may be his injury record more than anything where he doesn't always see out a full season but he's no stranger there and it's not like he is chronic like some other players we have persisted with. We should convince him to stay if we can. He is up there with the best and can make a very important contribution to our midfield.
And to all those people who bag him, expecting him or any other player to behave like a saint, they should stop feeding into the bullshit narrative and get their heads examined!

I think it's mainly about pride.
1 yr ago Nasri didn't want to accept Pep as the boss talking about losing weight and preferred to go on loan.
In the meantime he was able to follow Yaya's superb development. A turn around story.
I think Pep would be able to handle Nasri as well - IF Nasri does agree to the rules in place and fully commits to the team - and the boss.

Still I am not quite sure about Pep's view.
And I am not aware of a clear statement by Samir.

We still have 4 free foreign spots for domestic comps. Like the young EDS lads Nasri just would be a very got option to have.

One more thought:
Right now Gundogan is supposed to be part of the CL squad.
But maybe it would be an idea to get Nasri on board instead and give Gundogan the time to come back nice and easy in domestic matches?
We would be winning some time and take the situation under review again next January.

Good post and I agree wholeheartedly.

I think he's an exceptional player. But it isn't madness to let someone go from a team if you believe that they detract from overall team chemistry and morale. In my roles running software companies, I've seen overall performance go way up after letting go elite programmers who undermine the overall cameraderie and work ethic of a team. I think that would be an even more powerful dynamic with sports teams.

He's a talented footballer with superb vision and ability. He's also universally despised by his own countrymen. There's a reason for that. He's a tit.

Unless he plays in a deeper role, it's difficult to see how he'll get any playing time considering the array of attacking options we have.

If, as suspected, we sign another attacker/forward, our main options in midfield and attack will be the following:

Gundogan
Fernandinho
Yaya
B Silva
D Silva
De Bruyne
Sane
Sterling
Sanchez/Mbappe/someone else
Jesus
Aguero

With this in mind, it's hard to see Nasri even making the bench on most occasions next season.

If he can be managed (and who better than Pep for that?) I still maintain he's one of our best players. When he's on it there's no player I enjoy watching more than Nasri... Totally trust Pep to make the right call though.

Christ, if the French don't like you, you really are fucked!

What a complete load of claptrap.

So how do you explain his lack of basic fitness in being hugely overweight regularly during his time at the club? Anyone being paid in excess of £100k per week who can;t even stay fit is a disgrace.

"Lack of BASIC fitness and HUGELY overweight REGULARLY during his time at the club"..slight exaggeration??
Just illustrates my point regarding people making up bullshit about him.

And how exactly does Samir detract from overall team chemistry - facts please rather than your perception
