Samir Nasri

Never got the hate for him as a person.

Always came across as a decent guy, bright and intelligent.

Enjoyed watching him, great talent if inconsistent.
Have to say intelligent isn't the first adjective that springs to mind when I think of Samir. Never disliked him though and for two or three seasons he was an important and very skillful member of our first great team in the PL era.

Always thought he'd be one of the players to shine when Pep arrived but as it turned out he was one of the first to leave. Great vision, great passing ability and superb at retaining the ball so presumably something lacking in the attitude and application department.

If only he had David or Bernardo’s drive to go with his talent. His debut away at Spurs when Edin scored four was brilliant and one of my favourite awaydays. He had his down moments but scored some huge and important goals for us. One that I don’t think has been mentioned yet is the opener in the title clinching win over West Ham at home in 2014. Settled the nerves.
I think he fell out of love with football after leaving City, the whole Drip Doctor iv stuff was very odd

100% ? He was a coward when it mattered , he nearly cost us the qpr game with not keeping the ball in , he had given up, not to mention the wall debacle , not one to be in the trenches with , not often i dislike a player but he was one of them. On the other hand when he wanted to he played well and him , yaya and dave were quite the threesome
Oh get a grip! You can see players turn away from the ball any time you watch MOTD but the only one I have ever seen criticised years later is Samir on here. A player who gave me a lot of pleasure at the time.

he didnt just turn away , he went behind the one next to him , coward in a big game , zabba was distraught and that is the difference

Great player for us when fully fit defo a bit underappreciated by a lot but that's simply because of his teammates, Yaya Toure was out this world for 4 to 5 seasons, Aguero was Aguero our greatest ever goalscorer and scorer of our most iconic goal, David Silva was a magician for a decade and was flawless in more or less everything he did, so people forget Samir and the likes of Gareth Barry.
Think people forget how important he was for us in both title winning campaigns,.. when Dzeko scored 4 people forget how good he was that day day, his form during in the last couple months in 2012 was fantastic he was possibly our best or most consistent midfielder in that late run in.
Played great in the league cup final against Sunderland too! He assisted the goal that put us top of the table after slippy g messed up a week earlier and scored on the final day win.

People don't give him credit cos they only think of Yaya Toure , David Silva or Kevin De Bruyne as key midfielder making things happen but Samir Nasri was hugely important in our early dominance... Sometimes he underperformed and could be frustrating the odd game but when he made things happen he didn't quite get the plaudits, due to other headline makers cos of Aguero scoring or Yaya going on a mazy run or a beautiful Silva assist.

When he left as I remember it Pep defo wanted him to stay here as a squad player in a backup role to begin with, Nasri unsurprisingly for a player of his age and defo unwisely felt he needed first team football when Pep would've probs got the best out of him... I think he now regrets not staying here as he defo loved his time here and his career has massively nosedived plus Pep loves players with his attributes, he was a Pep type player who foolishly didn't wanna be a Pep player at the end but I'll always have pretty good memories of his time here and so should many others too!
Indeed. After Yaya went off in that final game against QPR we completely went to pot. The only player who actually played well in the rest of that game was Nasri, the rest were poor that day.

He hadn’t given up, he thought it was our throwin. Watch that game back and pay attention to him, he was our best player in that second half.

Moving out of the way of the ball in a wall happens multiple times every week across the fixtures of a league. It isn’t cowardly, it’s just a natural reflex.

A coward isn’t the one who steps up in a high pressure tight game in a title run-in and plays in someone for a last minute winner with fantastic play, or takes a shot on to score a title winning goal from outside the box.

When we beat United 4-1 at home when they were under Moyes, Nasri absolutely ran the show that day
Lovely footballer
