Another trash midfielder who can’t control or make attacking contributions. We have plenty of players like those.
Agree.I think Tonali is a good player, although I feel like Newcastle could well be his level.
Seems like we are signing far too many players way below the standard that's required, the flip side of that is who us currently out there across Europe to bring in that's real quality?
Football as a whole is struggling across Europe for top talent in my opinion. I can't even name ONE player that's world class in the Premier League at the minute.
A point missing to some on here.I think Tonali is a good player, although I feel like Newcastle could well be his level.

I'm sure the press amoebas would offer you Rice, Dowman, Bruno Penandes....I think Tonali is a good player, although I feel like Newcastle could well be his level.

I'd say not necessarily. Zubamendi was once available. Tbh I'm struggling after that....A point missing to some on here.
If there were better players, readily available, we wouldn't have made the signings we have imho
TBF Zubimendi is a very good player, Tonali I would say is a level just above and then Rodri a level above that again. In a good side with structure Tonali could thrive, he is 4 years younger than Rodri, so has time on his side to reach a higher level.I'd say not necessarily. Zubamendi was once available. Tbh I'm struggling after that....
Depressing isn’t itAnother trash midfielder who can’t control or make attacking contributions. We have plenty of players like those.
There is plenty of talent, just 20 years ago the top talent went to the top 5 clubs in Europe. Now with so much money in the sport the top talent is spread among many clubs in Europe.I wonder why there is such a shortage of top talent throughout Europe. One might have expected given the recruitment of young players into football academies and the training they get that we would now be seeing some really talented players. Or perhaps that is the problem. Flair is coached out of them and replaced with other attributes
There isn't though. We got David Silva and Yaya Toure in our infancy as a top club and aguero for that matter. We had elite level talent and weren't close to competing with the madrids, bayerns, barcas. Those teams arent as good as they once were and we are sat here struggling to find players to replace our old guard. The game has gone athletic and analytical yet if we had our 2018 to 2022 team, we would win comfortably. Athletes can easily be beaten with elite level ballers but they have been stifled for safetyThere is plenty of talent, just 20 years ago the top talent went to the top 5 clubs in Europe. 20 years ago City, PSG, Dortmund, Atletico Madrid etc would not have been able to attract top talent. Then you have teams like Brighton, Bournemouth 20 years ago who would have been nowhere near the PL who are now attracting very good young players and can hold onto them until they get a very high price. Take Baleba at Brighton, very good with excellent potential; 20 years ago he would attract a top club who could take him for a relative low fee. The smaller clubs can now attract top transfer fees for their best players meaning they can hold on longer to these players and PSR means clubs have to be careful. Plus most fans don’t count a player as top talent if they are playing for a top team.
You end your point by stating that elite level players are stifled by teams playing safe as a priority. So effectively there are elite players out there, perhaps Cherki could be considered as one who is being stifled and I think Grealish was too. Surely depends who leavesI don't think he'd make us any better. Also, like other on here, I'd have concerns about him stitching up Newcastle.
Bit of both, grealish isn't on that level regardless and cherki yes is but still for me way too much wasted motion and unnecessary plays from him so can see why frustration appears with him. But yes coaching and analytic based staff absolutely is the main problem as there has never been more people to choose from so talent shouldn't be decreasing in numbers, it's not being fostered correctly and maybe it's just a fluctustion and a new gen of top level footballers emerge soon. This is very much a city problem as we have become accustomed to pep style and now buying in markets we never should be unless we intend to go all in, in a new direction and have this confusing blend of styles. You end your point by stating that elite level players are stifled by teams playing safe as a priority. Did we even try for joao neves?I'd say not necessarily. Zubamendi was once available. Tbh I'm struggling after that....
