Anyone else a little concerned over this transfer?

The news on his injury is patchy although he is in rehab for the next 3 weeks followed by a period of fitness training before he can play regular games. Surely our medical staff must of flagged up some concerns prior to signing him!! we knock the rags for their purchase of Owen but at least he has played in all their pre-season games and scored. For the over inflated price we paid for him we will be a laughing stock if he does not kick a ball all season...

I just hope he takes baths instead of showering!!

I was when we signed him, but the fact that he is now reported as missing until September shouldn't be earth shattering, I doubt he will be ready to start until October.

Fingers crossed on this. I for one think the RSC deal was a terrible waste of money and would rather have put the money against a decent CB.

who's worrying?

we can afford both - we aren't constrained in financial terms anymore... think about it.

we need to build our team defensivly now, we'v got like 9 or 10 attackers, defence isnt too bad now with toure and possibly lescott. midfield looks abit weak, strong player ireland and swp, there more attacking midfielders, could do with somemore defensive midfielders. dont think sparky has stopped spendin yet, think lescott might be unveiled in the next few days but is he worth 22 mil? i heard puyol hear say. is dunne gonna get games? maybe zabs too. wouldnt mind seeing beckham in midfield, possible? could turn out to be a good season but to be honest i dont think we'll be top but i think it could be our best season so far.

are you having a laugh, defensive midfielders we have kompany barry dejong and zabletta can play there to, considerin were more likely to play a 433 the only central midfielder we have really is ireland, we do no noeed another defensive midfielder

Just because we don't have to worry about money anymore doesn't mean we should throw stupid amounts at injured players who cost not much less than Torres. Think about that.

Concur. I thought it was a poor move at the time given his injury record so its not suprise he will miss the first month or so of the season. No doubt hes a quality player if he can keep fit but hes struggled to do that throughout his career.
