Sarah Everard murder | Wayne Couzens given whole-life sentence

He wasn’t referring to you mate. When he said ‘your’ he meant the protesters (I think)
I think he was referring to me saying they should not be protesting during a pandemic, which if so he is right they cannot take that right away from the people but the way these demos have ended up going every time whilst in a pandemic annoys. Not many of them there care at all about any type of message they are trying to get across its just hijacked by dickheads.

That’s a fair point. I am a hypocrit on this issue though as I have no time for Piers Corbyn and regard him as a complete lunatic and nuisance. I would be happy to see him wearing a tag that limits him to a short distance from his home.

But when he was knocking about in Glastonbury a few months back with his band of conspriracy theorist junkies, I believe the police did the right thing in not intervening and giving "legitimacy" to their brain mush or worsening disorder.

say what you like but given the circumstances this - as they say - is not good optics. The Met really should have stood back for a while and kept a watching brief rather than placing hands on women - as I say if nothing else it looks appalling

I mean... it doesn't look good but am I the only one who thinks the reactions are over the top to this?

I can't see anyone get hit or any "police brutality", they were just physically moved after being asked. I can see a few people take swipes at police officers if anything. What's wrong with these people? I know emotions are high but imagine being so entitled that you think you can slap a copper around the chops.

Yes, they probably should have left it but they do still have the authority to move you if you wont listen, men and women included.

‘placing hands on women’ come off it !. Police were very calmly and politely telling them to move away. There’s a fuckin pandemic still on. They didn’t listen so got moved without much aggression at all. All whilst being heckled and screamed at. As someone else said, an absolute thankless job.

Here’s a thought

the vigil was asked not to happen for sensible reasons in the current pandemic

the vigil has taken place and the police rightly/wrongly have had to enforce said law brought on by the pandemic.

I wonder if said vigil have though about the friends and family of this poor girl as they turned up anyway not obeying what had been asked

her family and friends must been in shreds and now this.....so so sad

For me its just Policemen manhandling women at the moment at a vigil for a woman who seems to have been murdered by a Policeman.........They stood back when the dippers held a riot - sorry celebration - as they did when Rangers fans went mental last week.

I am not saying don't attend - I am saying keep a watching brief and as soon as speeches have been made and flowers laid they simply ask people to leave and usher them away.

Can you imagine if a GMP cop was arrested over the murder of a City fan and they turned up at the Etihad manhandling and arresting celebrating City fans just a few weeks later? Would we all be happy?
