Satisfied with 5th?

I think in the long term finishing fifth could be better for us than fourth. By the start of next season our squad will definitely be of a champions league standard but a year of gelling and a a strong Europa league run will mean by 2011/12 we WILL be in the champions league with a team that knows each other and has European experience. It may not seem that way now but finishing fifth may be a blessing in disguise.

I agree, we could finish 4th and draw a toughie in the qualifying round and be out of the champs league before the end of August and then where does that leave us for European competition?
I'd love us to make 4th and get into Champs league (especially as I hate Spurs as well) but don't think Europa league would be too bad (and a decent chance of winning it)
Another season in the Europa gets everyone more experience and then we can really have a crack at it following season (not to mention all the cheap ryanair flights to European backwaters in the Europa league!!!!)

It would leave us in the Europa League. 4th place is win all round.

I wouldn't be satisfied with 5th, because that would mean either Villa, Spurs or Liverpool would get 4th and I'd be angry, bitter and jealous.

Imagine next season watching any of those bastards and thinking: "It should have been us!"

No way can you be satified with 4th. We've already blown so many points to teams we should be beating especially in that run of seven draws. However still in our own hands and with crucial games at home to Spurs and Villa we'll lose it rather than them win it!!

At the start of the season I'd have been happy with 5th, but now we are so close to making 4th.... I'd be gutted.

Yeah .. that goes for me too.

And it should also be the case for every one of our players as well!

no way
and if we don't finish in the top four, I for one would still lay the blame firmly with hughes and his supporters!
what have his supporters got to do with it ?

they helped to prolong his devastating stay at the club!
if the hughes supporters had recognised earlier what a piss pour job he was doing he would probably have been ousted earlier before we lost ground to piss pour clubs like hull burnley etc

i can't resist to pour scorn on this
to blame the fans is a poor excuse
perhaps if you pour yourself another drink
you may see it was the piss poor luck

nothing to do with luck
bad manager pure and simple backed by fans with a deluded sence of loyalty who may have cost the club the championship let alone 4th spot this season by

bad use of the transfer window throwing money away ie RSC
crap tactics
alienating long serving members of the staff
etc etc .........
we can all remember the very long list
